Been some horrendous injuries so far - Van Vleuten's crash in the women's road race was just brutal.
    Those cobblestones were brutal.

Katie Ledecky is the Usain Bolt of the pool. Who in the hell can ever catch her? I'm sure not even Barry Allen could do it.

All sorts of upsets in the tennis, the Williams' sisters and Murray brothers both beaten in the doubles, and now Djokovic loses to Del Potro.

And Del Potro was actually stuck in the elevator prior to that match.

He still managed to get the lift he needed.

Watching gymnastics is just mind-blowing. CrossFit has given me a bit more respect than I already had for these athletes. What they do is remarkable.

....and I could watch Aly Raisman all day. Damn.

                          Afternoon they blossom on,
Still are withered by the evening:
You can be me when I'm gone.

Australia has a lot of yellow in their uniforms for a country with no yellow in their flag at all.

One of the great things about the Olympics is that I see a lot of games I otherwise wouldn't. I've never seen an organized game of field hockey nor team handball. Another great thing is that one can always view the event as "us vs. the world", which makes choosing a team to root for easy.
If all of mankind minus one were of of one opinion, and only one person of the contrary opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind.
