Paramount Pictures this morning announced release dates for three “Transformers” sequels.

    “Transformers 5″ will open June 23, 2017, followed by “Transformers 6″ on June 8, 2018, and “Transformers 7″ on June 28, 2019.

These will be the first fruits of the writers room established nearly a year ago, under the guidance of Akiva Goldsman, to map out an expanded “Transformers” cinematic universe, which will include an animated feature. Hasbro Studios President Steven J. Davis revealed in October that the next decade of the franchise had been plotted out, with “Transformers 8″ already in the works.

Michael Bay, who’s helmed every installment of the blockbuster series to date, confirmed just last month that he’ll step behind the camera once again for “Transformers 5.” However, he insists it will be his last, saying, “I have to pass the reins to someone else.”

Paramount’s four “Transformers” films have grossed a combined $3.761 billion worldwide.

Following the announcement this morning of the release dates for three “Transformers” sequels, Hasbro has confirmed that one of those is the rumored Bumblebee spinoff.

The film, characterized by Hasbro in an email as “the never-before-heard story of Bumblebee,” is set to arrive June 8, 2018.

The spinoff was first mentioned in May by Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner, who spoke of it only as a possibility. “Many of you know Bumblebee, the yellow Camaro, formally known as a yellow VW Bug, and he is a beloved character by kids all over the world,” he told investors. “We could see stories told around Bumblebee and other characters.”

A rumor also circulated around the same time of a “Transformers” origin film set on Cybertron. However, there’s been no additional word on that.

“Transformers 5,” directed by Michael Bay and starring Mark Wahlberg, arrives June 23, 2017, followed by the Bumbleebee movie in 2018, and a third, unspecified franchise installment on June 28, 2019.
As someone who actually enjoys the live action Transformers movies, this is great news. As for the Bumblebee movie, I assume this is a solo movie. I actually like the idea of doing an origin film set on Cybertron, so hopefully it'll be something we see on the big screen.

Interesting to note though, is that Transformers 5 is set to open the same day as WB's/DC's Wonder Woman movie.

Re: Transformers Movie Franchise, Next Three Instalments Announced

I enjoyed part 1 and 3, but 4 was a fetid turd and 2 was downright abysmal. So I can literally say I'm 50/50 on the franchise. I kind of wish the damn thing could get rebooted to something better though, the TMU just doesn't handle any of the characters well and is always too damn focused on humans, much like the IDW series, good stories can be told with the humans, but the best are the ones that focus on the Transformers themselves. Oh well, I guess I have the IDW franchise to keep me warm, hopefully the next movies don't suck like 4 and especially 2. I'm certainly not seeing any more in the theater though.

I would like an origin story, I'd actually like an origin series, focusing on the founding of the Decepticons, the war, and ultimately the fall of Cybertron.

Garbage franchise, it hurts me that they have been so successful.

( ?_?) - 97% of PW suddenly think Michael Cole is awesome. If you're part of the 3% that still thinks he is an annoying tool, copy & paste this into your sig.

Currently Playing: Suikoden 1, Max Payne 1, Beyond Good and Evil, MGS Peace Walker
