  • Drunk or Sober

I personally attest that I have never been drunk. But how do I know? I only started drinking 3 years ago. I've never had more than 3 drinks in one night. But I have felt the effects of alcohol. I hear terms of buzzed vs drunk. By where do you draw the line. At the legal limit to drive? How would one ever know? If it is a personal judgement call, where do you draw the line?

I drank one time in my life and it was shit faced drunk. The kind of drunk where you go to bed with a girl who looks like a solid 10 with beer goggles on but is a generous 4 through sober eyes with weird nipples. God that was stupid. Unprotected sex of course. Thankfully I escaped with no damage to speak of from it but I never drank again, not even a beer or girly type of fruity drink. Just doesn't appeal to me. I do kind of want to try weed though but I'm paranoid about drug testing so I just never have.

Buzzed = Mentally altered. Feeling pretty good.
Drunk = Physically altered. Feel fucking great.
Really drunk = Having difficulties standing. Hate everything that exists. Might puke.

It's funny how being really drunk effects different people. Some people get really depressed, while others might get really funny, horny, violent, loving everybody, sleepy, the list goes on and on.

Everything is a blurred line for me. I'm just me when I drink.

                        Re: Drunk or Sober

As a young and fearless student I used to get drunk (or really drunk in Kilgore terminology) on almost a weekly basis. I did it mostly to overcome my shyness and feel able to interact with strangers in loud places. It was also good fun, and I never got anything beyond a very mild hangover which was quite fortunate. The memory loss was fun at first but soon became off-putting. I mellowed out somewhere around my 21st birthday. I cut down my drinking severely; a combination of maturity and my confidence developing to a point where I didn't need a crutch to socialise. Since then I can count on one hand the number of times I've been really drunk. I like getting a nice buzz. A little tipsy. Then I stop. I rarely drink more than three pints of beer on a night and I only drink other kinds of alcohol on family occasions.

Normally I am a happy, jovial drunk, but about one in four times I got horribly depressed. I couldn't stop myself thinking the most negative thoughts, no matter how irrational, and either moped around in a corner or went home without saying goodbye to anybody. If that's how clinically depressed people feel all the time, well, that's awful and I'm fortunate not to have it. After that happened a few times I was able to detect when I was getting depressed-drunk and stop drinking as soon as I noticed.
