Default deactivating and deleting our accounts

There was another thread here that kind of got me thinking. We should have a feature that allows us to delete our accounts. Facebook let's you delete your account, but gives you a 2 week waiting period before it's permanently gone. I'd like that feature on this website.

Default Re: deactivating and deleting our accounts

I would say the reasoning for the way we do things is as follows.

Say someone has an account sitting on needing just one more warning before being banned, they just delete their own account and then receive a warning on the new one and then use the reasoning that the new account shouldn't be banned because it only has the one warning. When we ban problematic posters we have a much longer waiting period than two weeks and depending on the reason for the ban, we may require up to ninety days.

In the rare case someone has ever asked to have their account deleted, I've asked them if they're absolutely sure and then done so.
