    It's the Gamecube controller.

    I got my list in!

Don't know if that's just age or whether all the controllers were like that.
I think that must have just been the controller you were using, Genny controllers are pretty tight, I've made perfect runs through Shinobi III, I don't think that would be possible with a laggy controller(I'm not as good playing that game with a Playstation 2 or 3 controller because of the way the d-pads are designed, Genny controller d-pad is just right though). Sometimes it is just the game too though, like Revenge of Shinobi the controls aren't as tight and responsive as Shinobi III for example, just the way the game is programmed, some Genesis games were just programmed with clumsy controls. Haven't played the original Streets of Rage in a while.

    Cool idea.

The 360 controller is an obvious number one for me, but it's going to be fun deciding what comes after it.

    You are all spoiled!

I had a very early pc where the joystick plugged into a com port and it had slides on the X and y axis that required constant calibration, it was as analog as it gets... And games in those days weren't really designed for keyboard play.

I love the GameCube controller and I've got a lot of love for the Wii U gamepad too.
PS4 controller is my #1 by a light year. I've never been more comfortable holding a controller in my life. When the next Sony console comes out I'm very interested to see what they do for a controller, if anything. They could just use this same controller forever and I'd be fine with it.

I have a certain love for the N64 controller but it's going to be low on my list due to the issues already raised in this thread. I think the "clunkiness" aspect is moot because of how different it was, so many people just took some getting used to it in order to use it. And it was very innovative even if Nintendo didn't make their future controllers much better. But yeah, the joystick was garbage and I had to replace more than one controller due to it breaking/becoming too loose to use, and the switching from joystick to D-pad was impossible to get used to.

I forgot about this. I'm a deadbeat Dad.

Let's see if we can get a court order for back child support!
