Don't understand the love for Swagger at all. Can somebody show me some of his best matches/promos? I remember him being largely bland in the ring and awful at promos. His best period was when he and Zeb were doing the "we, the people" gimmick and he didn't have to say anything.

The guy was a terrible performer and an average wrestler - being " technically good " doesn't mean he's good - It means he wrestled in college, and to some people that means he's Kurt Angle. To the rest of us, me - it means jack shit.

I would definitely add Jeff Cobb to a Swagger dream match list, and possibly Timothy Thatcher.

Swagger was probably the most boring pro wrestler I've ever seen hold a world title. Heck, maybe even the most boring period. Don't really care that he's gone. I'm surprised that there are actually people that do

Such a shame as to how him vs Lesnar could have been huge with there high profile amateur backgrounds like Angle VS Lesnar was

To be fair, they took the personality he had - Incredibly goofy collegiate grappler - and tried to replicate Heel Jericho with him the INSTANT he won the title.

Jack Swagger had a few great matches here and there early in his run but he seemed to be phoning it in for a good few years, pretty much as soon as his big World title run got torpedoed by making him "Thuper Theriouth" and had him immediately bitched out by big show.

Between Real Americans and Team Vickie, Swagger shown to be a solid half of a tag team. Given the state of the tag divisions on both brands, I find it hard to believe they couldn't have paired him with anybody. Maybe the plan was to pair him with Shelton before Shelton got injured.

The whole "amateur background" thing has never meant less. Why people still get excited over it now, I'll never know.

Jack Thwagger never recovered from losing the Swagger Soaring Eagle. He was a big goofy jock, and WWE never got it right.

Because stars like swagger, angle and Lesnar are legit and could take the roaster easy if the wanted

@MV I hope Swagger stays in Japan for at least a few years, if anything..Swagger always has shone flashes of brilliance in the WWE..Being that he was never consistently booked, I'm not surprised he was released but am happy he's gone from the WWE. What were they even doing with him besides that failed recent Smackdown appearance, anyway? Using him as a house show jobber? Besides Matt Riddle, I'd like to see Swagger go against Ishii, Nagata and Tanahashi if he does end up in NJPW. Another good match could be Swagger vs Benjamin whenever Shelton's shoulder's fully healed.

He has a solid feud with Christian back in WWECW and was money with the Swagger Soaring Eagle on SD. He was apart of some big matches like the Elimination Chamber he won the title shot and the MITB year that he won.

He should consider roiding up and going Lesnar.

Found a clip of Swagger on Chael Sonnen's podcast shooting shortly after his WWE release. He basically says he left the WWE because of lack of opportunities.

WWE is saying Swagger is still under contract and will have a 90 day no compete even if he is released...

I doubt it, Hager has a win over Cain Velasquez in amateur wrestling, Cain destroyed Brock Lesnar in a shoot, Brock beat Punk at Summerslam 2013, therefore no, Punk can not defeat Hager. Simple MMAth

Seriously though, he's got options in Bellator and Rizin, put those real wrestling skills to use and maybe build up his brand and get back in the biz as a bigger deal later down the road. The thing is that if you are getting into MMA to build up your brand you are doing it for all the wrong reasons and it's probably not going to work out very well.

Also definitely think he's one of those guys who's real name is far better than the one he got in pro wrestling. It's hard for me to give a shit about a dude named Jack Swagger. Jack Hager though sounds pretty cool.

Jake Swagger is a great name, but you don't give the name "Swagger" to someone with a natural lisp.

I'm starting to get this feeling, if you're not coming out of NXT or Japan, you quickly get forgotten about - ie; Swagger, Cody, Barrett, etc.

And you know what, I'm fine with that.

All three of which were fantastic talents that I felt the WWE just didn't know how to use or didn't care to use.

HHH tried his best to dump Miz on the side of the road but he was too damn good to be departed like that!

Heath Slater was another one they tried so hard to throw to the pits. He can't help but be beloved by the audience. He was given one step below "Why the fuck are we pushing" Eric Young of gimmicks between 3 Man Band, The Corre, being the 5th man in Nexus, being a jobber to 50+ year olds, Social Outcasts leader before he became a family man!

So, why not make this a general released thread? Change the title to '2017 Future Endeavors' and all releases can go in one stickied thread....

I'm gonna play devil's advocate like in my thread I started called Career Exchange which can be usually found around the middle of the page one on the WWE listing of this forum. If you push Cody, Barrett and Swagger into main event storylines, who will you take out of main event storylines to accommodate them? For me its east. I take the Goldberg/Lesnar feud out and put Barrett into the time set aside for anything Goldberg. Of course, thats not much time if you just go by his matches, but the damn segments promoting these smoke and mirror Goldberg matches could be used for plenty of "I'm afraid I've got some Bad News for you"
