They're ladder match in 1992 was great, IMO... arguably better than Shawn/Razor @ WMX.

There are at least 7 on tape. Less than 4-minute Wrestling Challenge match in Feb 1990 that ends with Jannetty and Neidhart getting involved in a schmozz. Ladder match tryout in mid-1992. Survivor Series 1992. Cage match from Jan 1993. Iron Man. Screwjob.

It is a very good match and building into a proper finish, it may have even become the true classic that the two of them really should've had against each other.

I didn't remember the screw job match being that great but now that i'm thinking about it I think i need to give it a rewatch. I remember it being a more punch/kick/brawl kind of match but maybe I'm wrong. I mean the only clips you really see now of it were from the ending. I'll watch it today.

Perhaps I didn't explain myself very well. My point was that I never heard anyone say that the screwjob match itself was anything special. I had no reason to believe that. I figured the only reason that match wasn't completely forgotten was the finish. Given what has been said in the last few posts, it seems like a much better match than I assumed.

You remember correctly. And that is exactly what the match should've been.

Ok so I haven't seen this one in 10 years probably so I gave it the rewatch and it was better than I remember it being. Your right, the pre match brawl in the crowd and the entrance way gave this a much more heated feel than any of their other encounters which for storyline reasons is perfect. I just felt like WWE at the time started doing the crowd and entrance brawl in what seemed like every damn main event of the attitude era and it really got old but this was in the early stages of that so I can't hold that against it. I don't think it was as good as their somewhat overrated iron man match but it was still good. Also HBK's post match flag hump was priceless. That's what I loved about HBK in this window of time, he was just the ultimate asshole on camera that you pretty much knew he was backstage. As for another match on that card, I was shocked at how short Owen vs. Austin was especially for this being in Canada. I thought they would have made Owen look a little better than they did but it seemed like the match was maybe 5 minutes long. However Austin was back from the broken neck so it made sense they wouldn't go all out yet for a back and forth classic wrestling match. But I'm getting off topic.

Can a mod stick this thread, please? I feel proud of us for pooling together and making such a great list and I'd hate for it to just get lost in the junk.

I decided to make a new thread with the list of matches in the first post so it is easier to find. I linked to this thread so people could read some of the explinations if they want.

Also, put Strobe's post in there he made with links to most of the matches.

The thing I remembered from the Screwjob was the atmosphere at the arena in Montreal. Word had gotten out that Bret was going to WCW. For like the first time ever, a wrestler was defending a world title while under agreement/contract with the competition. I had a friend back then that had a rigged cable box and we used to watch all the ppv's. We were much bigger fans of WCW than WWF but we watched that one with interest once I had confirmed Bret was leaving that day.
