Default The role of the Cruiserweight division at Wrestlemania

205 Live has become my favorite show to watch- great characters and matches = a good time.

With WrestleMania approaching, should the cruiserweights have a spot on the card?

A title match? How many people? (one on one, lumberjack, triple threat, Cruiserweight classic WM XX style?)

Or should they be left off of the card? Maybe given their own "big" show, similar to NXT Takeover?

My guess is some kind of six/eight man tag on the pre-show, then a title match (probably a three/four way) on the main card.

Then again, the crowd dies every time they come out, so maybe just jam both on the pre-show.

My main concern is how much they try to cram in there between Raw and Smackdown matches, women's division matches and special attraction matches and segments- is there really time for the cruiserweights, and would they get longer than 5 minutes?

Put Neville, Tozawa, Metalik, TJP, Gallagher, Alexander, and Swann in a seven man Ladder match and have them go wild.

Also, 205 Live is under-rated fun.

A cruiserweight match will most likely be on the pre-show. There is a chance that the title match could be on the main card. The Triple H interview from a month ago admitted that the division will be a slow process, and they are behind it. Let's be honest though. Wrestlemania is pretty much an all day event at this point. To me, the "pre-show" is pretty much nonexistent.

Take Gallagher out of the match, and I would be all for this.

I'm just not a fan, so I could do without him being in the match that @The Dazz came up with, but then that's just me.

And I thought only Aaron hated guys everyone loved.

Gallagher and Neville are the only reason the CWs aren't a piss break to me.

I actually like the majority of the cruiserweights, just not Gallagher, or the Bollywood Boyz for that matter.

They could do it go about it in two ways :

    1) Just cram most of them in a battle royale/Tag match on the preshow and be done with it because giving them a spot on the maincard is risky as the audience really does not give a shit about the CW division( rather unfortunate though)

    2) Have the two or three best representatives of the division go out there on the main card and have a main event level match, something even better than the fatal 4 way this past 205, they should be given sufficient time and creativity for executing a stellar match. If these men are able to shine on the grandest stage then things would certainly look up for the 205 division from there on.

Whoever is saying Ladder Match is spot on. This needs to happen.

205 Live doesn't seem to get a lot of attention and like @Aaron said, the crowd always dies when the Cruiserweights come out on Raw. They're just not clicking with the mainstream audience.

Give them the spot-fest Ladder Match clusterfuck the WWE likes to do every Wrestlemania over one of the midcard belts and make it the Crusierweight title match. 15 minutes of that and you've completely fixed the Cruiserweight division.

Yeah, this what I thought was going to happen.

In an alternate reality Itami was added to this match to make it a triple threat and it opened the main show instead of being in a pity-fuck spot on the pre-show.

its going to be garbage filler or pre show, its going to take a while before the cw division gets any serious time at WM and that's also a serious IF that happens at all

I'm still thinking with the little comments that Aries drops on commentary...

Neville vs Aries in the opening match or something like that.

I just feel bad for the large roster of talent that's been working the show to now take a backseat to Aries. I might even suggest making it a triple threat between Gallagher, Aries, and Neville. Since Aries has been ragging hard on Gallagher on commentary, it makes sense for them to still include him after Fastlane.

I heard Vince on a conference call thinking of putting on just Cruiserweight shows, and if they did that, then maybe they could get their own "big" network show the week of WrestleMania. Probably not this year, but next.

Sounds fitting for the possible route this Wrestlemania is taking doesn't it?

Probably the only match right now that I can see making the card(most likely preshow)and I wouldn't doubt it if it actually got bumped from the pre.

I really don't want to see 10 guys flipping and flopping all over the place, whether it's a cruiserweight open, ladder match or whatever.. this sort of stuff makes it a gimmicky match.

I just want two guys to go out there and steal the show. One on one, singles match. Aries v Neville. Tell a story.

    Less is more.

    Roadblock End of the Line.

One title needs the ladder match ckusterfuck, and with the US and IC titles looking to get actual feuds this year, the CW title fits the bill. Rather than have 2 go out and work a WWE style CW match (the same that's had every Monday and receives 0 reaction), have 7-8 (Neville, Gallagher, Brian Kendrick, TJP, Noam Dar, Cedric Alexander, Rich Swann + ?) guys go out there and work a proper, fun CW match and light up the crowd. If the CWs aren't strongly represented at Wrestlemania, it'll further confirm how the division is failing.
