I'm only following two shows this season: Sakura Quest and Sagrada Reset. The only one I'm caught up on is Sakura Quest, though. The show is pretty cute if you're looking for a heartwarming comedy this season. A small town in the countryside has revived its "mini-nation" tourism program in hopes to bring the town back to its glory days. They bring in a college graduate to be their "Queen", and other girls eventually as ambassadors. I like it.

So it looks like Saint Seiya might be next to get the live action Hollywood treatment.

Edit: So last night I watched an anime OVA that the majority of fans of the medium say is the worst anime of all-time... that being Mars of Destruction (Hametsu no Mars). Anyways, I dunno if it is the worst anime of all-time (as I obviously haven't seen everything), but it is indeed pretty damn bad.

So I had an anime filled day today, ended up watching Blame! The Movie, as it came to Netflix on Friday, I liked it for what it was. The film is from the same studio that brought us Ajin, and Knights of Sidonia so if you got two hours to kill, it's not a bad way to do so.

I also spent my day off watching the first twelve episodes of a series that @Mistress has recommended to me called Seven Deadly Sins, I'm digging it, plus Ban is pretty awesome.

Yeah, I finished up both the main series, as well as the four part Signs of Holy War OVA series. I'll definitely be watching the second season once it starts airing.

Looks like there is a live action TV series of Cowboy Bebop on the horizon.

Cowboy Bebop is regarded as one of the most influential anime series of all time. The series is often talked about among the anime world, and according to fans and critics alike, is one of the best anime series of all time. Created in 1998, the sci-fi western has had international success and global reach. According to multiple sources, Tomorrow Studios is currently working on a live action television adaptation of the anime.

The live action Cowboy Bebop is set to be produced by Sunrise Inc., which is the studio responsible for the original animated version as well. Surise will be working with Midnight Radio(Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, Jeff Pinkner & Scott Rosenberg), Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, and Matthew Weinberg, and the adaptation is set to be written by Chris Yost.

If you are unfamiliar with Cowboy Bebop, the show was first premiered by Sunrise in Japan 1998 and ran for 26 episodes. The action and plot twists present in Cowboy Bebop are considered high-points of anime storytelling, and its exploration of themes like loneliness and existentialism are what pushed the show to its global success. The series introduced a new wave of American audience to anime as it was aired on Adult Swim. Crunchyroll describes the story below:

The Bebop crew is just trying to make a buck. This motley lot of intergalactic loners teams up to track down fugitives and turn them in for cold hard cash. Spike is a hero whose cool fašade hides a dark and deadly past. The pilot Jet is a bruiser of a brute who can’t wait to collect the next bounty. Faye Valentine is a femme fatale prone to breaking hearts and separating fools from their money. Along for the ride are the brilliant, but weird, hacker Ed and a super-genius Welsh Corgi named Ein.

This is not spin off of the popular series, as There was a Cowboy Bebob film that was released back in 2001, that was titled Cowboy Bebop: The Movie. The original series was the first anime to be broadcast on the popular Adult Swim.

Tomorrow Studios is also in the process of creating another U.S. TV adaptation of a popular Asian title, Snowpiercer. The popular South Korean movie will be premiering on TNT next year.

I started and completed a couple of anime shows over the last week or so.

The first was an eleven episode series called Jyu Oh Sei (aka King of the Beast Planet), it was alright for what it was, though admittedly, it was a bit confusing at certain points due to the time jumps throughout the show. I also finished a show called Ga-Rei Zero, this was definitely the better of the two, a nice little action series, I enjoyed it.

Outside of my weekly shows, I've started a series called Ride Back as well.

So Ride Back, based off of the first couple of episodes, one would think this show was about racing competitions with mecha like motorbikes, thankfully though the series takes an interesting twist. As things develop, though, the anime quickly becomes a series, dealing with terrorist attacks by a group called BMA and their war with an organization called GGP.

I also finally got around to watching Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions, nice little nostalgic trip and it was good to see Yugi and the rest of the gang again as well. Anyway's with the way this movie ended, I'm hoping we'll get another animated film, that takes place within the Duel Monsters timeline, but I guess only time will tell.

Surprised it took them that long to get season 2 despite it being 1/2 the length. Guess it's better than an ongoing shounen with a bunch of filler.

This is one series me and my daughter watch together every week. She is a big Levi fan. Plus we always joke about how weird the titans look.

Last year, I set out to watch the animated films by one Mamoru Hosoda (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Wolf Children) and rank them. This year, I have decided to do the same thing, with the works of Makoto Shinkai (Voices of a Distant Star, The Garden of Words).

Given that I have already watched the previously mentioned movies from Makoto, I won't be re-watching them, due to time, however, I'll be adding them to the overall ranking. As for the list of movies, I plan on watching, I'll list them below...

    5 Centimeters Per Second
    Children Who Chase Lost Voices
    Someone's Gaze
The Place Promised in Our Early Days
    Your Name.

    --------

For a seven-minute short film, Someone's Gaze resonated with me, in a way the majority of TV shows and feature films don't. Given the subject matter, this really hit close to home for me, as like with most people, I had a childhood pet that I grew up with, and who eventually passed away as I reached adulthood. This seven-minute movie will definitely leave you feeling like you just got punched in the gut.

5 Centimeters Per Second, is pretty similar to another anime project from Shinkai (Voices of a Distant Star), as they share a lot of the same themes. Having said that, well 5 centimeters is a good movie, for what it is, I didn't enjoy it as much as I did with Voices.

I will say this though, one thing I've noticed about Makoto's work is how visually stunning they are (with the exception, so far, being Someone's Gaze), so you know going into these movies, you'll be seeing some top tier animation.

    Makoto Shinkai Movie Rankings

    3. 5 Centimeters Per Second
    2. The Garden of Words
    1. Voices of a Distant Star

I decided not to add Someone's Gaze to the overall ranking list, due to its short runtime.

Season 1 I found the character annoyingly overpowered. She's the top recruit, okay sure. But even the veterans aren't killing Titans with ease except maaaaaaaaybe Levi. Plus the way she babies Eren is so frustrating. I just finished episode 5, the Winter Training episode and for the most part she's been a non-factor this season but that's mostly because so far it's been focusing on other people besides the trio. And she has to chime in with "I'm coming too to make sure that doesn't happen."

    Ugh, get eaten already.

Plus of course she had to be the one to get the save in this episode. Just pissed me off.

I think the only time I've liked her was the flashback when her and Eren were kids and he saved her. Besides that... nope.

I actually did a google search to see if I was alone on this because I know I am with regards to my hate for a certain GoT character. Glad I'm not alone.
