Scherzer and Porcello win the Cy Young Awards...

Kate Upton's tweets, if you haven't seen them....they cut deep....very....very deep

The highlight of these tweets being "I thought I was the only one that was allowed to fuck Justin Verlander"

I didn't see the tweet but perhaps Verlander should have shown up in the first half of the season, had a phenomenal second half but his pre all star game numbers we subpar. I'm happy for Porcello who had a consistently great year, and looking forward to my man Mookie Betts being crowned AL MVP tomorrow.

I think it's great banter and she has a pretty reasonable point.

One of the flog voters turned their ballot in a week before the season finished (why?!) and left Verlander off completely. That's just silly.

Yeah, Verlander should have won and 2 people not even putting him on their ballots is ridiculous.

Love how she said Porcello didn't have any first place votes when he had 8 and glad he won because he deserved it more than Verlander.

Damn, Kate Upton being the Miko Grimes of MLB.

Probably would have helped Verlander get it had his team made the playoffs.

    Funny thing.

Kate's all salty, but JV, Porcello, and Scherzer were all teammates just a couple of years ago and probably texted each other with congratulations already.

I don't see how. Verlander was better in just about every stat except win/loss record. And that is only to Porcello's bullpen, and ESPECIALLY his run support....almost a full 3 runs per start better than Verlander's

Being left off of 2 ballots was out and out ridiculous.

Might be ridiculous but honestly don't care. I don't see how he was screwed. Porcello had a great year and deserved to win. Kate crying cause her man didn't win is just silly.

I would have gone Verlander in all honesty. The run-support argument being exactly why, I could have be a Cy Young contender if my team was getting 7 runs a game when I started

Yeah, it's not even about win loss record for me. Look at the year Felix had with his win loss record and he still won cy young.

Donaldson finishing behind Betts is garbage, but at least Betts didn't win MVP.

Adrian Beltre and David Ortiz got first place votes.

Yeah I knew Donaldson wasn't going to win it this year but holy fuck. Betts got 9 1st place votes. What?

I wanna hear this argument. Trout finishing ahead of Betts is more than reasonable. When you're the best player in baseball you are an MVP candidate any year you are healthy and perform to standard. But I don't see any reasonable argument for Donaldson over Betts.

I didn't say Boston writers specifically were biased. But I've always believed that sports writers generally have a bias for Boston and I think that the Cy and MVP results reflect that.

Donaldson has better offensive stats and plays a tougher defensive position.

Betts had a 9.6 WAR, Donaldson only had a 7.4 So you might want to rethink that.

WAR isn't rating offense, it's attempting to rate every facet of the game that a player impacts. wRC+ rates offense and that's it. Donaldson's wRC+ was 155 and Betts had 135.

I don't know how bWAR is calculated, but Betts has 7.8 fWAR and Donaldson has 7.6, and his lead is entirely due to them giving Betts and Donaldson a massive disparity in fielding. Fangraphs uses UZR as the base for measuring defensive impact on its WAR calculation. Betts has played a bit over 2 years and even the creators of UZR admit that two years is too small of a sample to accurately measure a players' fielding abilities. Outfield defense is even more volatile than other positions, and to me it looks like his impact is getting overrated by UZR. He's getting turned from a great outfielder into a top 3 outfielder which I don't think is accurate based off of what I've seen. He's getting placed in the neighborhood of Kevin Pillar, and if Mookie was that good, he'd replace JBJ in CF. I watched a lot of Betts and Donaldson this season, and I never got the impression that Mookie is better than Donaldson on defense, let alone several orders of magnitude better.

Huge news for Mets fans. The Mets have resigned Yoenis Cespedes to a 4 year, 110 MIL contract. That's the highest paid for a hitter not named Miguel Cabrera. When the Yankees go to sign Mike Trout (hopefully), that money is going to be YUGE.

I don't see the Mets being able to keep all their pitchers, though. This could be the beginning of the end for Matt Harvey. This may also be the reason they didn't try and resign Daniel Murphy last season. They were waiting for Yoenis.

Thank god the Yanks get Matt Holiday on a 1 year deal and not get silly with an Encarnancion multi year deal and forfeit the 17th overall pick to Toronto. Holiday probably isn't that great but I will take this for 1 year.

Likewise with the Red Sox. All signs point to them going the cheaper route to replace Ortiz. Have heard the likes of Pedro Alvarez as a short term option as they groom Sam Travis in the minors. The likely option is trying to salvage whatever they can out of that terrible Pablo Sandoval deal and hope he can bounce back similar to how Hanley did last season.

Also heard they are only interested in Chris Sale at a lesser asking price.

Weird time in baseball when the Yankees and Red Sox aren't the big free agent spenders eh

    All credit goes to surrender!
