Unfortunately this issue was a casualty of trimming the fat on my magazine collection since there was nothing really special about it outside of the Funk presser and the Pillman penned Austin article. I'm still kicking myself for tossing my glossy PWI photo specials out, dumbass.
At this time I was still getting back into the WWF swing of things, the Hart Foundation was the be all-end all, especially being a Canadian fan. WCW still had my heightened interest with Luger having found a chink in the NWO armor by beating Hogan. I was also scrounging money doing odd jobs so I could get tapes of ECW and Japan. With everything still being fresh my feelings were ECW and Japan were striking on all cylinders. Though viewed with hindsight some people now say All Japan was starting to stray into too many headrops while ECW had lost some of it's edge in comparison to '95 and 96 due to getting on PPV. I was just happy at the time in getting good quality entertainment from 5 promotions.
