Canadians on the podium again. We just won the bronze in women's rugby sevens.

Really love the sport. Much more exciting than classic rugby.

I get what a commentator would be going for though. They, in a way, are the defending champion, not in terms of defending the prize, but the honor of being best in the world in an Olympic setting. See where you're going with it too, but it's not an awful line to use. Sounds better than "the 2012 Gold Medalist"

"Reigning champion" works. Or jut plain "champion". This person/team is the champion until a new one is declared, even if it is themselves making multiple consecutive runs. Or just refer to them as a "gold medalist"; it carries the same credibility. What year did Kurt Angle win the gold medal? Trick question: Nobody cares!

We're always green and gold in sport - it comes from the golden wattle (and I dare say a desire to stand out because there's already a lot of other countries that wear blue).

Another bronze for Canada in the women's 100m backstroke. Just barely too, as we tied with the Chinese swimmer for 3rd.

Did anyone notice anything about Lilly's suit? It was all my mother's friend was talking about, he was screaming that it was an embarrassment and that you could see her vagina.

While she broke an Olympic record.

He was convinced everyone would be talking about it.

No one is talking about it.

In the 77kg weightlifting class Rahimov made a 12kg jump from his 2nd of 3 lifts at 202 and put 214kg on the bar. If he hit it, it was golden, and he hit it. That was a monster lift (for US peeps that don't know kilos, he clean and jerked 470.8 pounds at a weight of 169.4)...

For those that aren't familiar with the sport, I'll translate. Rahimov has balls the size of small planets.

I like the changes that they made in boxing. I was never a big fan of the land-more-jabs-and-you-win concept.

Outside of the debacle a few Olympics ago where we got the coin phrase of "LeBronze", maybe. But the A team was gone from the olympics so this wasn't the best roster sent yet Carmelo single handedly willed the team by himself.

The Canadian women winning the bronze in the 4x200m freestyle sure erased a bit of the hurt of Santo losing a medal by three hundredths of a second. That loss stung.
