    Default Pokemon Go

Earlier this week, Nintendo released their latest app Pokemon Go. Go is an augmated reality app, giving players the opportunity to catch Pokemon through their mobile devices. Through the use of GPS and the phone's camera, players have access to all the original 151 Pokemon. However, there's more to the game than just collecting. Players can raise their Pokemon and challenge other Pokemon at select Gym locations that can be found on the players map. On top of that, there's Poke Stops that provide players with all sorts of goodies. Like gym battles, they can only be found in select locations, so the game provides plenty of incentive to explore your town and city to see what's available.

But as Alberto Del Rio once said: But you already know this.

Tell me trainers, what Pokemon do you have?

And of course feel free to share your adventures so far.

I've caught a few Pokemon so far, but it's been raining here so I haven't go for a walk. I saw plenty of people walking around Charlestown Square (Shopping Mall) trying to catch them though.

Are all those from Charlestown? I want to go to Hamilton, apparently there's many rare ones there. I saw one guy get a Porygon.

The uni has a good range. I saw a Haunter nearby today but couldn't find it. One guy has a Blastoise at a gym there.

My girlfriend caught a Bulbasaur in her bedroom. I caught an Eevee in my bedroom. There was a Dugtrio nearby too but I couldn't be bothered to go outside looking for it.

I have a Squirtle. I didn't want to use my Google account, so I waited until the Club Pokemon website became available for signups, which was about half an hour ago.

How does finding Pokemon work? Do you have to be constantly staring at your phone when you're outside?

I took my 3 year old out today to go pokemon hunting and I was shocked by the amount of people I saw either doing the same or just talking about the game. I saw a family of four in my local pizzeria discussing how evolutions work with the mom. I've never been out in public before where I saw a lot of random groups of people from all different ages discussing or participating in the same thing. My neighbor, whom I've never spoken to before, saw what we were doing and immediately we were discussing where the gym and pokestops were in town and whatnot.

Really amazed by the amount of interaction with people this game is bringing out. Its nice to see people of all different ages engaged in a hobby. I had fun today

I've never cared for Pokemon but my girlfriend and I went through the hurdles to download the app in Canada (not officially available here yet). It's pretty fun actually.

Currently I have two Pidgies, two Drowzees, a Bulbasaur, a Venonat, and a Shellder.

I went on my first excursion as Pokemon trainer today. I found two great spots. The first is a moderately large park near where I live. A bunch of PokeSpots nicely spread out and lots of wild Pokemon. It's also pretty quiet there, not many people, so that was very pleasant. I then headed to the town centre, which is of course full of everything. I caught about 35 Pokemon in about three hours:

    Clefairy
    Zubat
    Pidgey
    Gastly
    Drowzee
    Rattata
    Krabby
    Jynx
    Venonat
    Onix
    Geodude
    Seel
    Spearow
    Nidoran (F)
    Psyduck
    Squirtle

My city is a Drowzee hub. I have 8 or 9 of them. Gastly was also fairly common.

It was fun, but I'm not sure how long I'll stick with it for. I certainly won't be doing any more three hour marathons. Nothing is explained, which I guess is intentional, so I have more questions than answers. What the heck is CP? Is catching the same Pokemon multiple times the only way to get items to level/evolve them? Do you keep duplicates forever? I could google all these things I guess, but it kinda ruins the mystery. I did have to google how to hatch eggs, though.

Yeah, I was very much a phone zombie today. I felt a bit silly wandering through the town centre almost constantly watching my phone, stopping randomly to swipe my screen.

A couple of my American friends are having a hard time because American cities are so huge and they have to drive for a while to get to a decent spot. No such trouble in the UK
