And I mainly watch the highlights of the days games. I don't care for much else but I did know what Skip was to first take and his craziness did make the show entertaining.

I believe I read something a few years ago that, Mark May (CFB analyst on ESPN), admitted that ESPN asks him to be antagonistic towards certain teams/fan bases.

I don't mind arguing. I mind contrived up over the top arguing. When Skip and SAS want to they can have intelligent debates but more often then not it turns into race baiting and ego stroking.

True. Janell has filled in well after Van Pelt left the show. That said, on the radio side, I like LeBatard Show and Right Time the best.

I think my biggest problem with Skip was the effect he had on a handful of brain dead "sport fans". There were far too many encounters for me where people I was talking to or arguing with cited Bayless as if he were any kind of credible source. Now those people obviously don't understand Skip or what he was about and are completely dense to begin with but when you have some idiot reaffirming stupid peoples opinions and them stealing his horrible arguments then it just makes talking sports insufferable.

I haven't watched First Take in years , because of the fact it just became the Skip Bayless and Stephen A. show so this doesn't affect my viewing in the slightest , but it's nice to know that for at least a few months the idiots will have to come up with their own baseless arguments and not cite the biggest troll in sports television.

But for the most part it's entertaining trainwreck TV to a large enough portion of the target demo

Besides the shows I mentioned,Jim Rome and a few other shows I've grown tired of the sports media I only watch out of habit and or boredom. Some sports personalities or way of the top.lame or condescending talking down to fans who don't help themselves because most of them come off like idiots.

Looking at Stephen A's Wikipedia page it looks like he got his career started right here in Triad. He's a graduate of Winston-Salem State, and his first two media jobs were working for the Winston-Salem Journal, and then the Greensboro N&O.

Never knew that. Not sure to apologize or not for it.

I also always get the old 1st and 10 show confused with First Take.

I honestly haven't watched any ESPN original programming, other than the actual sports themselves, in years. I usually only watch the NBA Playoffs, College Basketball & Football, and that's it.

You have no heart if you didn't think Skip's Tebow trollfest that lasted for 2 years wasn't majestic. His tebowing pose that seemed so choreographed were stuff of epic proportions.

Skip was a neccessary evil. He was pure entertainment with his outlandish bullshit. Glad to see ESPN losing guys left and right. Maybe they could afford their talent if they didn't shell out 250 million for the new set in Los Angelos they built a couple years ago.

With ratings dwindling across the board a whole new revamped structure is needed. If only they could get LeBatard onto every single show on ESPN then we'd finally see a turn around.

From a reliable source: Fox Sports is paying Skip Bayless in neighborhood of $5.5 million per for four years, plus a $4M signing bonus.

    I miss old ESPN (early-to-mid 2000's)...

PTI used to be awesome and something I looked forward to watching when I got home from school. Surprised as all hell that it's still around. I miss the series they used to do like "Top 5 Reasons You Can't Blame" or "Who's #1?" with Trey Wingo. Hell, Sportscenter was even better. Those were the glory days for me. Everything really seemed to take a turn for the worst when First Take became a big thing.

I respect Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith's opinions (most of the time) but the way they bicker like embittered housewives doesn't interest me in the slightest. This wrestling fan has enough non-sensical bickering commentary to deal with, I don't need it in my sports.

Yeah I haven't watch PTI regularly since like 2009, but I used to watch it every day when I was a kid.

I haven't watched PTI regularly in a while, but I think that's just because I'm older and don't have the time.

I did enjoy Sport Nation for its first two seasons. Beadle could pull a lighter side out of Cowherd, which he generally never showed on his radio show. After she left ( before eventually returning), and the Colin left, the show wasn't the same.

The Dan LeBatatd Show still entertains me though. Mostly for the awkwardness of Stugotz and their game of what a sports figure looks like. I think because I like LeBatard, it's why I enjoy listening to Bomani Jones' show.
