Geez, the reviews are not at all nice to F4 are they? If Fox was smart they would go the Sony route and partner with Marvel, that way we get a proper F4 film, yet Fox still gets to keep the rights. Could you imagine an Avengers VS X-Men film? Or a Future Foundation film?

So far, the reviews from some people have not been pretty. Like, I really want them to do a good Fantastic Four movie, but at the same time, I almost want to see if this gets lower ratings than Catwoman on RT.

Yep, with the way Marvel prints money, it's really a no brainer to me. It's all about ego's though and I'm guessing particular people think it'll be a sign of weakness if they try and bring Marvel in on it.

I don't put stock in critics alone. I mean I have been polar opposite of them on movies. But this one seems fairly unanimous, Like I said yesterday even the reviewers who give it thumbs up list the same negative stuff that the thumbs down crowd does.

Keeping in mind I'm not necessarily on the critics side because I haven't seen the film I couldn't help but laugh my ass off at this line from one review:

An outstretched, moronic, drama-less time-suck that somehow manages to be less fun than Pixels, which was only slightly more enjoyable than slamming a door on your face.

    Well... don'tcha?

In a quickly deleted tweet, Josh Trank says that his version of Fantastic Four was "fantastic" and would've received great reviews.

I think a lot of the vitriol towards the film before it opened (yknow besides it looking pretty awful) would've been lessened if the director and the entire cast weren't such gigantic fuckwits in interviews and twitter posts leading up to the opening.

I mean it still probably would've been awful, but at least there would probably be less hatred.

So far my favorite description of Doctor Doom is: "the disco gimp version of the Tin-Man."

Anybody with a brain would have told you that this movie would be garbage from the very first detail about it was released. None of this shocks me at all. You had the entire cast gleefully boasting about how this would have nothing to do with the Fantastic Four comics. They've seriously made the previous two movies look like The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. All parties involved should be ashamed of themselves and feel embarrassed about making that statement not completely hyperbolic.

The guy that plays disco gimp tin man said most of the reshoots had to do with him. That is the public outcry that happened over things he said in the press, and when folks found out his name wasn't gonna be Doom in the film.

I'm not surprised Trank said what he did in that Tweet. Going back well over six months the buzz was the studio was unhappy with the finished product. I would say the film probably has been heavily edited from what he wanted. Now whether it not that still would have sucked or not... We won't know...

I think personally it still would have sucked... But you never know with critics.

I'll be watching the box office this weekend intently. Projections put anywhere from $45 million-$50 million opening weekend... but I cannot see how so many people would be interested in this. Reviews terrible, comic fans reject it, and trailers look boring. If it does pull off the estimate, I think it still might crash and burn afterwards even harder than Terminator Genisys did (which will end it's U.S. box office with less than $100 million, and looks to have killed the intended franchise).

Just got back from seeing Fantastic 4 and all I can say is...Wow. And not in a good way.

I respect Josh Trank for having the balls to provide a different take, but...this movie has no heart to it. Like at all. It really felt like just a money grab by Fox just so they can hoard the license from Marvel Studios.

I mean, I don't even like the F4 in the comics or cartoon version and yet still I'm just like...damn.

well it seems to be coming out Fox highjacked the movie essentially from trank.

rumor is just before shooting they pulled 2 big action scenes that were planned and then when it went to editing they completely took over and pieced together the movie they wanted.

check collider movie talk over on youtube.

    Per my facebook notices:

Fantastic Four: Marvel Superhero Earns $11.3 Million on Opening Friday Amid Poor Reviews
No major superhero film has opened at below $35 million since "The Green Lantern" in 2011, according to Forbes. "Fantastic Four" had a 9 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes as of Saturday.

So rumors are now saying we could see a Deadpool sequel in the place of Fantastic Four 2. That would be smart, and hopefully it introduces Cable and leads to X-Force

$26 million for Fantastic Four. Why even bother with the franchise at this point? It's box office poison.

I understand they now want something in Fantastic Four 2's release date- but putting Deadpool 2 there might be rushing the project.

I don't know about the franchise being box office poison. I think done right, it could still be successful but sadly, this film isn't it. This was always looking like a train wreck.

I really doubt Fox will try and reboot again one day. I see one of two things happening now:

    1. Fox and Marvel negotiate- Marvel gets Fantastic Four and all related characters back, in exchange for merchandising/television rights for the X-men.

    2. Fox holds on to the Fantastic Four until the rights lapse. One less superhero property as competition until then.

I really hope for option 1. Not so much for the Fantastic Four, but for Annihilus, Galactus, and Dr. Doom. They could be used so well in existing properties (Annihilus in Ant-Man or Guardians of the Galaxy; Galactus in Avengers or Guardians; Doom in Avengers or Iron Man).

Default Marvel Movie News Thread 2.0

With the last thread lasting three years and 2,500+ posts deep I thought it was time for a brand new thread where we could discuss the movies of the Marvel universe be it casting news, new movie announcements or just posting trailers for the upcoming movies.

    Upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Films

    Captain America: Civil War(May 6th, 2016)
    Doctor Strange (November 4th, 2016)
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 (May 5th, 2017)
    Spider-Man (2017)
    Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
    Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 (2018)
    Black Panther (2018)
    Captain Marvel (2018)
    Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2 (2019)
    Inhumans (2019)

    Upcoming Fox/Marvel Films

    Deadpool (February 12th, 2016)
    X-Men: Apocalypse (May 27th, 2016)
    Gambit (2016)

Will update the list as any possible movie announcements are made.

Between the two, the first option is definitely the one I would prefer as it would (hopefully) mean seeing these characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe sooner.
