Default WWE Are Letting Contracts For Wrestlers Expire

Posted by Ryan Clark on Saturday, June 7th, 2014
As we reported several weeks ago here on the website, there is a belief that WWE are letting contracts for wrestlers expire, instead of announcing their release, as a way to downplay the controversy and negativity toward the company when people leave.

WWE is now taking the strategy of no longer announcing the releases of WWE Superstars. They are letting the contracts expire, and the wrestlers will announce it themselves.

Looks like we can all say goodbye to Rey Mysterio, Alberto Del Rio, and C.M. Punk for good officially.

They still have Rey on the hook for another year because he's missed so much time because of injuries. I think they will re-sign Alberto if he wants to stay.

This is smart, because unless they need to publically sever ties, just not having people show up for a long enough time can fade guys out without the harshness of announcing to fans that yes, that guy you were rooting for is now out of WWE. \

And believe Punk is signed through July.

Yeah, a move to not make it look like there are financial problems releasing people all at the same time. Plus, I'm sure it helps morale too to know you at least are employed until the end of the contract.
