Default The History of WWE: 50 Years of Sports Entertainment DVD cover

It's a mighty fine cover. I hope the DVD itself backs it up.

Uploaded a smaller one so it could stay on.

They put a giant red X on the cover? Is it going to be heavy on D-generation X material?

    Thanks JV for the artwork!!

I'm actually not too impressed with the cover. Seems too high school yearbook-ish.

Here's and updated on the match listing.

    Royal Rumble Match
    Royal Rumble • January 24, 1988

    WWE Championship Match
    Triple H vs. The Rock
    Smackdown • August 26, 1999

#1 Contender’s Match for the WWE Championship
    John Cena vs. CM Punk
    Raw • February 25, 2013

    WWE Championship Match
Bret “Hitman” Hart vs. Shawn Michaels
    Survivor Series • November 9, 1997

The Rock vs. Hollywood Hulk Hogan
    WrestleMania X8 • March 17, 2002

    6-Man Tag Team Match
John Cena, Batista, & Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho, Big Show & Randy Orton
Tribute to the Troops • December 20, 2008

Not a huge fan of the match listing so far with the exception of Hogan .Vs Rock.I really dug the Cena .Vs Punk match up this year from RAW but sense this is the huge 50th anniversary set they should have went with their most important and best match up to date in their MITB '11 encounter. Also if Hogan .Vs Ander isn't on this release I am going to go ape shit crazy.Yes the match in terms of in ring quality is pretty weak but in terms of the WWE and possibly even the pro wrestling world its the biggest match still even to this day.Its the Citizen Kane of pro wrestling.

I love the design. Mt. Rushmore in the corners, McMahons in the middle, and the most important figures in WWF history on the sides.

    As for historical importance:

Hogan Vs. Shiek - MSG 1984

Hogan Vs. Andre - WrestleMania III

Hogan Vs. Undertaker - Survivor Series 1991

Foley Vs. Maivia - RAW Dec. 1998

Austin Vs. Hart - WrestleMania XIII

Austin Vs. Michaels - WrestleMania XIV

Fatal Four Way - WrestleMania XVI

Austin Vs. Maivia - WrestleMania XVII

Cena Vs. Helmsley - WrestleMania XXII
Any of these should be on the list.

They use their real last names on the match listings? Wouldn't it just be The Rock and HHH?

Solid list but I would scrap some of those matches.

I am not going to list anything before the Hogan era sense I haven't seen much of it.But here's a list of match I think are extremely important and would be fitting for the 50th anniversary set.

    Iron Shiek .Vs Hulk Hogan-WWF Title-MSG 1/23/84

Randy "Macho Man" Savage .Vs Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat-IC Title-Wrestlemania III

Hulk Hogan .Vs Andre the Giant-WWF Title-Wrestlemania III

Randy "Macho Man" Savage .Vs Hulk Hogan-WWF Title-Wrestlemania V

Hulk Hogan .Vs The Ultimate Warrior-WWF Title-Wrestlemania VI

Randy "Macho King" Savage .Vs The Ultimate Warrior-Career Treating Match-Wrestlemania VII

    Mr.Perfect .Vs Bret "Hitman" Hart-IC Title-SummerSlam '91

Bret "Hitman" Hart .Vs The British Bulldog-IC Title-SummerSlam '92

Hulk Hogan .Vs Yokozuna-WWF Title-King of the Ring '93

Bret "Hitman" Hart .Vs Owen Hart-Wrestlemania X

    Razor Ramon .Vs Shawn Michaels-IC Title-Ladder Match-Wrestlemania X

Bret "Hitman" Hart .Vs Stone Cold Steve Austin-"I Quit" Match-Wrestlemania 13

Bret "Hitman" Hart .Vs Shawn Michaels-WWF Title-Survivor Series '97(already on this upcoming set)

The Undertaker .Vs Mankind-Hell in the Cell-King of the Ring '98

Stone Cold Steve Austin .Vs Mr.McMahon-Steel Cage Match-St.Valentine's Day Massacre '99

    Triple H .Vs Cactus Jack-WWF Title-Street Fight-Royal Rumble 2000

    TLC II-WWF Tag Team Titles-Wrestlemania X7

The Rock .Vs Stone Cold Steve Austin-WWF Title-Wrestlemania X7

Hollywood Hulk Hogan .Vs The Rock-Wrestlemania X8(already on this upcoming set)

    Triple H .Vs Shawn Michaels-Non-Sanctioned Street Fight-SummerSlam '02

    JBL .Vs John Cena-WWE Title-"I Quit" Match-Judgment Day '05

Shawn Michaels .Vs The Undertaker-Wrestlemania XXV

Shawn Michaels .Vs The Undertaker-"Career .Vs Streak"-Wrestlemania XXVI

John Cena .Vs CM Punk-WWE Title-Money in the Bank '11

John Cena .Vs The Rock-Wrestlemania XXVIII

I know 25 matches is a bit much for the set but some combo plater of these match ups.All that I've listed I feel are hugely important to the history of the WWE and are some of the greatest matches as well. The Austin/McMahon match is a little odd I know but with the greatest feud in the WWE history I felt it wouldn't be right without putting on one of the matches.

The fact that Cena is in a corner and Rock isn't is halarious to me, Rock is as big as any of the other big 3 in terms of historical signifigance.

Cena is too but not as much as Bruno, Hulk, Austin and Rock.

All 4 corners define their era. Rock never defined an Era, he was the number 2 while Austin was around.

Cena's picture should be where the 50 is and should be triple the size of all the others.

    Combined.

At first, but he clearly took over after Austin went down, and even surpassed Austin with the masses.

The only question is whether they put Benoit matches in and shop over his face with Cena's.

Not only that, but I realized one day that Cena, Hogan, and Sammartino are the big 3. You see, there are franchises, and there are fads. Austin and Rock were both just fads, albeit VERY popular fads. But if I had to pick one face to put on the cover of a WWE history book, then it would be a tossup between Cena, Hogan, and Sammartino. To me, Austin and Rock were just the two biggest stars at the tailend of the Hogan regime. Hogan was still the Babe Ruth/Mickey Mouse/Superman of the time, and his longevity has alot to do with it. Austin and Rock were both just two to three year fads, while the other three were guys who defined the company for at least a decade. I could go on, but I don't feel like it. WWE/Vince were on point with the cover of this DVD and I can't wait to get it. Cena, Hogan, and Bruno weren't fads, they were dynasties/franchises.

John shouldn't have occupied the spot he received in this DVD cover.

Are we still not acknowledging John Cena's place in the history of the company and acting like he's the worst wrestler EVAR?

    Is that still a thing?

I actually would've replaced Slaughter with Savage on the cover.

John Cena is not yet, and probably never wil be in the same category as Stone Cold, Bruno Sammartino and Hulk Hogan. DJM, take the blinders off. Your response indicates that my post implies that he doesn't have a spot on the cover at all. I said that his spot on the cover is not warranted.

Whether he is or he isn't, and I'm not getting into that argument, the fact that a couple of you care so much about such a miniscule thing says more about you than it does about Cena, or anyone else on the cover.

They reserved the four corners of the DVD for the biggest stars in the history of the business. Andre should be in Cena's place.
