TNA star Kurt Angle issued a statement Friday night announcing that he will "immediately" enter a rehabilitation center as a result of his DWI arrest early Friday morning in Texas following this week's Impact TV tapings.
"I am blessed to have the support of my family, my friends, and my company," Angle tweeted in his official statement.
"In light of recent events I will immediately be entering a rehabilitation center. I realize that this is a pivotal time in my life and I ask for your understanding as well as your prayers and continued support. I am confident that in taking these steps I can begin to address necessary changes in my life."
It's worth noting that Angle was scheduled for this weekend's TNA house show tour in Texas and Louisiana.
More details have emerged on what led to Angle's arrest from a TMZ report. According to the Texas Highway Patrol, local police in Wise County, Tex. received a call about a "reckless driver" late Thursday night.
Police caught up to Angle and pulled him over on suspicion of reckless driving, then detected alcohol in Angle's vehicle. TMZ reports that it's unclear at this point whether Angle was given a field sobriety test, but Angle was booked on a Driving While Intoxicated charge early Friday morning at a local jail.
