    Question african american babyface

    credit wrestling observer newsletter

There has been a call internally for WWE to try and create an African American babyface. The idea is to create him both to attract that demographic and to sell merchandise, similar to the role Rey Mysterio has played with the Latin community.

Yeah, it's not like they've had an exciting African-American babyface there for years and years, and done sod all with him...

Fuck Kofi. Big E is where it's at. Xavier Woods is my distant second choice.

Xavier Woods, please and thank you.

    Or just use Mark Henry.

Wonder if this is the reason behind the Henry turn.

Big E Langston if he turns face (which is likely to happen eventually). And there's Xavier Woods in developmental.

Henry's obviously great. Not sure if that's a long term answer thought. My favourite African American wrestler ever though.

He just signed a three year deal, so it can be at least a three year answer.

They have Big E. They have Titus O'Neill. They have Mark Henry.

The only problem WWE has with this is Creative not doing their job.

And as far as Kofi goes...let it go, guys. Let it go.

    YOU WILL COMPLY.

I'm aware. Still, Henry's quite good at injuring himself. So he needs to be handled with caution.

Im partial to Ezekiel Jackson, probably cause we're both Guyanese. As of right now i refuse to give up on Kofi.

Titus Oniel is the best bet for a successful babyface, even over Henry IMO.

I love Henry, but Titus has much more charisma and a much more marketable look.

Henry is scary but that might prove to work better when he's heel.

    Titus should get the nod.

Why aren't they using Woods? He's so much fun.

And he looks like Lionel Richie.

Oh I don't believe for a second that they'll give Kofi a significant push any time soon. I just think it's a slow news day.

But if they are really looking for an African-American star... E is my man.

The only problem with Titus is age, other than that he is a born superstar. Great athletic pedigree, great look, dripping with charisma and ability on the mic, he has that mythical x-factor that we're always looking for. Give him a shot.

Titus was terrible on NXT Redemption as a face though. Maybe he would be better now but after how cringe worthy he was back then, I'd rather him stay as a heel where actually has some entertaining moments (he and Darren are pretty amusing on WWE.com videos).

Titus is much better now...he looked great against Christian on Raw for the little bit of time he was given.

If they let him start winning some matches and let him talk some more he'll definitely get the fans behind him.

Thought the reason behind them not doing this years ago is because they thought it won't change ratings. Mark Henry gets the title and ratings went up.

I still think it should be MVP but I guess it is time to let it go. I would like Titus to help out the tag team division for a while but he probably could work. Kofi needs to talk more and gain a stronger personality. Mark Henry needs to stay heel. Not really fond of Big E in the ring yet but booking wise he could make the jump easily. He has beat ADR a number of times while he was the number 1 contender. R-Truth was close at one time during his heel turn.

Even though the term African American was used I am guessing they don't mean Gabriel. Even if it did he probably fall in the Kofi category.

Yeah I am also down to see Big E go forward. His tweets alone deserve a push let alone his look and strength.

Titus wouldn't work as a face, some people were born to play heel. Go with Big E.

Only problem with Big E IMO is that the big overly muscular guys don't tend to go all that far.

And I still think that Titus has a better look and is better on the mic.

I guess Big E needs a little more mic time for me to really be sold on him.

Titus's has those funny videos and his commentary night that sold me.
