Default What Did You Think of the Last Movie You Saw?

The other one was approaching 4,000 posts and the one prior to it was stopped a few hundred posts before that. After three years of each, it's about that time for a fresh version. This will be the ginger version. I kid, but let's do this!

I haven't seen a movie since Man of Steel in theaters, so unfortunately, I can't get the ball rolling. And if you haven't seen Man of Steel, you should.

I will get it rolling with four quickies -

The Purge - Ehhh... it made a pretty trailer. 1.5/5

    Minor spoilers ahead -

    Spoiler

Warm Bodies - 4/5 Pretty cute little movie, not the best movie ever, but an enjoyable rent.

Killing Them Softly - 1.5/5. I really wanted to like this movie, but it was brutally boring for me for the most part. A laugh or three which come from the trailer, and the final speech keeps it from being a 0.

This Is The End - 2.5/5 - The first half was pretty funny. When they decided they didn't want to be funny the movie dragged like crazy and I don't know how many ends of the movie I really needed to see. Took forever to finish.

Agreed, mikec, on the second half to This Is the End. If they had stuck with the first half's formula, it would have been one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Instead, it was only probably the funniest I've seen this year...

I will admit to missing one joke in the last 30 minutes that I didn't think about until several hours after the movie -

I for actually really liked the 2nd half of This is the End and found it to still be almost as funny as the 1st half of the movie.

i loved "this is the end".

my main complaints were "the exorcism of jonah hill" should have been longer (i was dying when that place card came up anouncing just this ) and i was iffy on the ending. but this was one of those flicks were it was more about the journey than the end so meh.

I can NOT wait for This Is The End.

And I will not watch "Man Of Steel" because I always found Superman boring.

Hey, has Superman and Joker ever faced off?

    That would be pretty cool.

there was the "emperor joker" storyline in the comics that was pretty good. Joker stole Mister Mxyzptlk's god powers.

more recently there was the comics mini series based off the "injustice: gods among us" video game that was pretty dark and twisted.

no such thing though in live action/film.

    I just watched The Others

I wasn't expecting much, to be honest, but this film blew me away. Gripping story right from the start, some very creepy moments, convincing acting, and the huge twist at the end was incredibly well done. It's a bit mindfucky; still trying to wrap my head about it. The twist was made even better by the sudden appearance of one Michelle Fairley (Catelyn Stark from Game of Thrones) which got me all excited. Great film!

    Repeaters:
The ol stuck in a repeating day routine for three youngsters. It leads to the group feeling they have no consequences for what they do until one of them starts to take it to far and the two friends try and stop him. It's a decent flick. Nothing amazing but kept me engaged from start to finish.

    Silver Linings Playbook
I absolutely loved this movie , it instantly has become one of my favorite romantic comedies of all time. It was genuinely funny and had me rolling at parts , and touching in the parts in needed to be as well. Lawrence and Cooper had some great chemistry throughout. It' definitely a DVD I will buy in the future and become one I can watch at anytime.

    Taken 2
I wanted to see this forever but could just never find the time. It's exactly what I expected and I loved it for that.

    Wreck it Ralph
Might just be my favorite kids movie since Toy Story 3 , loved the nostalgia it provided but also thought it had some great comedic lines in it along with just enough heart to make it a great kids story.

Very happy with my Redbox choices last night and optimistic enough that I may just try it again tonight. I miss watching movies , and it being summer and alot of my TV Show's on hiatus allows me to not have to worry about keeping up with the DVR as much.

The very end gag lost me a bit, just a bit too "Really?" for my liking. But the movie on whole was hilarious, the whole cast worked it all perfectly.

I saw Monsters University today and I really enjoyed it! It isn't as good as Monters Inc., but it comes close! Lots of laughs and I was surprised how emotional I got during parts of it.

Also, I really like the Blue Umbrella short that was before the movie!

    I would give Monsters University a 91%

    Spirited Away

Phenomenal film. The animation is stunning, perhaps the best I've ever seen. The story and characters gripped me the whole way, and some of the completely bizarre spirits had me laughing pretty hard.

    Vertigo

y2jman's Hitchcock thread inspired me to watch this film. Not my favourite Hitchcock film, but it's up there. It did drag at times, but the twists were truly shocking and some of the visual effects, while primitive, were still very powerful. I certainly never expected to see that kinda stuff in a 50s film. I was getting a bit sick of James Stewart's face by the end

One of the best ghost stories period. Second viewing knowing the twist makes it even better.

Yes, I was thinking that myself. Knowing the twist beforehand would make for an almost fresh viewing experience, and would perhaps alleviate some of the confusion I had during the first watch.

Easy A: Just finished giving this a watch on Netflix, anyway's it's actually not that bad of a movie. With that said though I mostly just gave this film a watch as it starred Emma Stone.

Watched Admission today. It was your average romantic comedy which was actually a disappointment given how much I love Fey and Rudd. Wasn't bad but it wasn't anything I'd watch again.
