Default They really need new commentators

The current trio really kill all the good moments and makes them look ordinary, for example when Christian returned, they were like "Oh its Christian" even when Brock's music hit and he came out they didn't sell that moment like they should have.

I actually think they do a great job commentating on the actual match but God damnit, they sure can ruin a great moment.

    Who do you suggest?

Tony Dawson is still quite green (worse than 1998/9 Michael Cole) and learning the craft down at NXT. Scott Stanford wasn't any good at it either.

They just need to retire Lawler. JBL and Cole on their own can be great (most of the time). or have Cole, JBL, and Foley as a trio. That'd be gold.

    Boo-tista? How about Daniel Boo-ryan!

The Joey Styles mark in me wants Styles back, but it's become clear Joey hated announcing for the E by the end and is much happier doing the website stuff.

Lawler needs to go. But Cole and JBL don't feel right like they did on SD years ago either. I honestly dont know who they could put out there.

JBL, Striker and Matthews would be a great trio for either Raw or Smackdown.

I know, I miss him too.

Actually I'd love for Regal to start commentating on the main roster. Doesn't have to be smackDown, Main Event will do. He's pretty good down at Full Sail.

Promote Scott Stanford already. He's got the most professional tone of them all.

Lawler needs to go now. His disinterest is so clear in his commentary i see no reason for him to continue. Maybe he could come in occasionally but he isn't doing a good job full time.
Striker was good, if he is added to the mix i'm sure the commentary table will get interesting again. I always enjoyed his commentaory, it's a shame to see him being completely wasted.

I really long for the Heenan/Gorilla, Ventura/Gorilla and Heel Lawler/JR days. Jerry needs to retire. JRs commentary is a shadow of its former self so we don't need it. I just wish we could get a good heel(wrestler/manager)/ straight face play by play guy again who know how to react to great moments instead of just yelling Vintage(insert wrestlers name here) lingo. I hate that JBL plays the middle. Go full heel or go home I say.

Schiavone wasn't that bad. Was better than Cole I think.

    Seriously

    Stanford - PBP

Cole - Middle (at least he CAN be funny by being the 'awkward old guy' from time to time)

    JBL - Colour

    I'd love to see that.

I could live with that. Although my ideal team would me Mathews, Striker and JBL. Heck, you don't even need JBL. Just send Matt and Josh out there to clean house.

Although I wish WWE would go back to separate commentary teams on each brand. I'd settle for Stanford, Cole, and JBL on Raw if it meant turning Josh and Matt loose on SmackDown.

I think booting Lawler at this point would help most. I don't get the 3 man commentary teams at all. They have never worked in any form imo.

One of my biggest gripes with the commentary is when they get hung up on something the other people said. Even the "premeditated" thing from this past Raw was too much for me. I don't care if Lawler, JBL or Cole said something slightly stupid or Lawler made the worst joke in the world. Bleh.

From what I've heard of Regal on NXT, he doesn't sound like he has much conviction by what he says. It's calculated and accurate but it needs a little more "mmph" so to speak for it to work in WWE.

JBL is great and I don't mind Josh Matthews. Cole and Lawler I'm not to big on right now. King was great in the 90s but he stopped being interesting years ago.

Yeah, this low-key shit has got to go.

For fuck's sake, can we get a little emotion? I would love to have heel Cole back. At least he was into it.

I agree on the emotion but a heel Cole was atrocious. Play by play guys should be faces. People directly involved with the wrestlers, former wrestlers or managers are better at heel commentary

    This, so very much this.

I'd love for Matt Striker and Josh Matthews to be the announce team on Raw, I can't help but feel that if Striker was at the commentary booth during Christian's return on Monday Night Raw that he would have made it a bigger deal ala like he did when Booker T returned at the Royal Rumble.

As for Michael Cole and JBL they can be the commentary team for Smackdown.

I never said it was good. It's still better than what we get now.

I've kinda given up on the commentary for good. Michael Cole is Michael Cole. I loathe JBL.

Scott Stanford & Matt Striker will never be moved up the chain...because reasons.

And Josh Matthews doesn't know if he wants to be the straight man or Michael Cole 2.0, so he's becoming a lost cause.

And they won't get rid of Lawler, and Lawler probably loves the payday.
The IWC will never be happy unless Daniel Bryan wins both world titles, makes Batista tap out and makes HHH look like a total bitch in the process.
    Consider me a satisfied customer.

Josh's problem is that he's been paired with (drowned out by) oppressive personalities for so long, he HAS to go over-the-top "Heel Cole 2.0" to get noticed. Which is a shame. Now, if he were allowed to just be a straight play-by-play guy with someone who actually knows how to play off him as color commentator, maybe that wouldn't be an issue. But he's the third wheel on SmackDown as it stands right now.

I don't get the Stanford love. Seen tons of his type before, he sounds very professional and educated and polished, with about as much passion as an answering machine. Striker I find irritating, he seems more interested in getting himself over amongst a certain crowd. Matthews I like, but I guarantee if he took Cole's place, he'd soon get the same complaints. Replacing JR is a bitch, maybe they should look down south if people don't like Cole. Something about the way southerners talk, they can be passionate and animated and yet fit seamlessly with the action, like great storytellers.
