Question *POTENTIAL SPOILERS* Regarding Creative Direction of CM Punk

    credit pwinsider.com

PWInsider reports that there is reportedly more and more talk within WWE about CM Punk working as a babyface. Apparently Punk is coming up on having just one year left on his WWE contract so it will be interesting to see how WWE books him over the next year.

Shit, I had no idea about the contract and Punk's said many times he wants to retire early.

I do hope he turns face, though.

Yeah its been 2 years and I think other than the special 10 year type Orton contracts WWE does 3 year contracts. I could be wrong though

I still can't believe that guy is signed until like 2019 or some crazy shit.

That's like the wrestling equivalent of A-Rod/Pujols/Hamilton.

I loved punks original face turn after the pipe bomb. But after a while especially when he was feuding with Bryan I got less interested in him. So I was very happy when he turned heel.
Though am all for a face run if its booked correctly.

Just keep him as a tweener and let him be himself. He's really boring as the 'witty' CM Punk doing goofy shit.

This is good. Part one of what I want to see this year looks likely.

Now for part 2: Punk's guerrilla war on, and systematic dismantling of, The Shield.

I could have sworn that Punk's deal was up in 2015. I had read that somewhere somewhat recently and even believe Punk confirmed that on his Twitter roughly six months ago. I'm pretty confident that Punk is gone and done for at least a year or two after his contract is up. He may end up working behind the scenes, but I don't see him pulling a Undertaker or Rock type deal.

The contract part guts me like a fish. I hope this retiring early thing is all talk.

I wouldn't be surprised if he hangs it up next year, which is why I want him to main event next years Wrestlemania just in case so he can cross that achievement off the list. He should have never turned heel in the first place. I loved him up until that turn and then he became like every other cowardly heel in the company only he had Paul Heyman in his corner.

I would hope when Punk retires from the ring, Vince starts doing everything in his power to get him to take Lawler's job or JBL's, but honestly, I'd prefer it was Lawler's.

Punk is absolutely horrible as a face. He's not that good as a heel either, but as a face he's plain awful.

I think Punk will do a Jericho. He loves the business, but not enough to dedicate every waking moment to it as he gets older. Having said that, I think we'll have him for a couple of years yet before any situation regarding his future in that regard is sorted.

I fully expect Punk to leave the company after his contract is up.

I see him being like Jericho, in the way that Jericho has gone on record time and time again saying "I love wrestling, but it's not my priority". I can see him just getting burned out and enjoying free time to go to sports events and concerts (as he obviously loves to do). While I'd LOOOOOOOOOVE to see him renew his contract, I doubt he would sign anything more than maybe a one year extension.

I'm not sure. Colt Cabana hasn't had anything good to say about ROH since they parted ways and Punk has a lot of loyalty to his friends so he may not want to but you never know really.

Why? He is the second top full time wrestler in the wwe. He could make a whole lot more money and he can have a lot off big moments in store for the future.
Anyway I see punk wrestling full time until he is 37. Then after that I see him returning for one more big match at the age off 40 too put over a new talent.

His goal was to get to the WWE, he's admitted as much in years gone by. There'd be no reason for him to go back to ROH, at least not for more than one night as a special guest appearance, for example.

I actually think if Punk did buy Ring of Honor(which I'm sure he wouldn't do), he could make it better.

I was thinking to myself after re-watching Punk's documentary a few weeks back, that he's going to end up owning and running a promotion. Heyman said he did a lot of stuff outside the ring while in development, he's had experience with LWF and he's also had experience of being a trainer while with ROH so I think at the very least he could follow the likes of Lance Storm and open up a wrestling school.
