Default Former UFC Champion wants to return to WWE

Former UFC fighter and WWE Superstar Ken Shamrock spoke with Ring Rust Radio recently and expressed interest in a WWE return. In regards to whether he would be up for the comeback, Shamrock said, “Oh, definitely. I’ve tried to reach out, but I’ve been hitting some walls. I’m not sure if my messages are getting through or not.”

Most interestingly, the 49-year-old also said he had not felt he hit his prime in WWE, and wanted the top prize.

“In my career, if you follow my career and watched everything that I’ve ever done from the time I was in high school to where I’m at now, I’ve always been able to reach the pinnacle,” he said. “In football, I was able to win championships and go to bowl games in college, be an All-American linebacker and there were a lot of things I was able to accomplish. In my professional career, every time I jumped into an organization, I always reached the top and the title. I know with NWA with Jeff Jarrett, TNA, I was their first heavyweight champion, so I was able to reach that pinnacle. With Pancrase, I was their first champion and was also able to bring it to the U.S. using my character.

I also reached the level in the UFC as a heavyweight champion, one of the first of all time, also rookie of the year, fighter of the year. I got into pro wrestling, I’ve got tag team champion, Intercontinental champion, King of the Ring. There were several times where I wished I had got that opportunity, and probably should have had that opportunity, to at least challenge for the Heavyweight Championship belt. I never got that opportunity, and I’m not sure why, but it is what it is. I will keep fighting to try and get that opportunity and close this thing up to be probably one of the only persons in sports history to go into several different organizations and become world champion in every one of them.”

Shamrock would also comment about how he felt Brock Lesnar was able to transition well into MMA due to his amateur wrestling background, and that he felt Vince McMahon vs. Dana White would be a top draw.

Interesting. But what would they do with him? Maybe a feud with Barrett or something?

He's out of money again. He can't go back to the UFC, so next on the list WWE.

He's the only one with a bit of size that could talk and have enough personality.

I'm usually one of the "if he can still go, is willing to commit, and is willing to put people over, bring him back!" types, but for Ken Shamrock ... No. Just no.

Throw in Rampage Jackson, and I'm fully agreed.

He did get to challenge for the world title... It was at DX in December 1997.

I was all for it at first but kept reading and saw that he was 49 years old and thought "Nah."

    Well, there is an idea...

If Lesnar is gonna turn face over the summer, maybe Heyman could bring in Shamrock to go after Lesnar?

Ken is a great wrestler and would be a great name to have back in WWE. He could have fantastic matches with Del Rio. Sheamus, a feud with Lesnar maybe.

I'd fully be behind a comeback for the Worlds Most Dangerious Man

Always liked Ken and if he can still go in the ring is gladly take it. He has one of the best entrance themes.

I watched his last MMA fight from 2010. He was doing okay, then his opponent got on top of him and Shamrock grabbed for his hamstring, claiming injury. It still counts as a TKO, but I have no idea how or where it happened. I don't think he wanted to take the beating that was being put on him. He looks like he's in shape, he's still very muscular, but if he can "pull a hamstring" laying on his back...he's to be avoided.

I said give him a run I mean 49 isn't that old for someone coming back, now if he was somebody just starting out I say no.

I could see him haveing story with Brock and maybe even Barrett.

Becuase he is almost 50 and with the roster being as crowded as it is, there isn't room for him.

I have no desire to see him return.

It'd be cool to see but I think they should let the chance to get him back pass.

My thoughts exactly, essentially word for word. Enough people go on about how Taker is too old to wrestle a full time schedule anymore, he should hang em up etc and he's younger then Shamrock.

Shamrock also isn't as beat up as Undertaker is, I presume. I don't know how much of a toll UFC has had on his body or even when his last fight was as I don't watch or pay attention to UFC, I'm just going by his rassling career.

I think it would have been best if he had come back during the Ruthless Aggression era from 2002-2004. He would have fit in well with the likes of Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Shelton Benjamin, Eddie Guerrero, Charlie Haas, Goldberg, Edge, Randy Orton, etc. (Yes, I know he had a few matches with Edge at some point, but he could have a few more.)

Even if I liked Shamrock, I would not want him back on the basis of WWE doing more 'legit' fighter crap.

Which means it might just happen.
    That's all, folks.
