When on EARTH is this guy gonna debut? He's had like 2-3 vignettes every WWE program. Is he any good? What are their plans for him? I'm just amazed at the amount of promo they're giving him.

I honestly stopped caring. They had promos for him for a while, then stopped for months, and then started up again. I hate characters like this, I find them stupid and totally at odds with what the program should be about. I honestly don't give a crap, and won't unless he debuts as the anti-Brodus: a guy billed as a lame dancer but debuts as a serious wrecking machine. But as it stands now ... get it over with, or drop the character for good.
Also, the idiocy of building a newcomer up in the heart of WrestleMania season astounds me.
And let the bitching begin. I'm just going to refer you all to the text in my signature.
Oh, and it's...

Yeah, Falcy, even I'm starting to get upset at the "Everything in wrestlin g has to be super-serious." Corny gimmicks should always be a welcome staple in the World of Wrestling.
I am no prognosticator, but I think this is a failed character. He's too 80's. The wrestler may be talented and have a future but not as Fan-Dang-O!
Fandango sucks!

Ehh, don't really care. I'm not looking forward to his debut. He's probably not gonna last long in this gimmick anyway.
All credit for this amazing signature goes to Justin Valuable! Thank you!
Well Johnny Curtis is a great wrestler I've seen him on NXT, I think this gimmik will go over great with the fans as long s he's a face . If they ever make him a heel with this gimmick it wont be nice.
I can't wait until he's "canned-ango"
*sees Vingette without seeing him wrestle*
Guy sucks, fire him.
Thats basically this thread in a nutshell.

surrender
And before we get the "If his gimmick sucks, he sucks" shtick, Dolph Zigglers original gimmick was just introducing himself over and over like a pokemon. Oh, and I recall everyone saying he sucked and should be released because he had a goofy name back then too.

Hell, DJ Gabriel on ECW gave me my fill for the next decade.
Johnny Curtis deserves better.
And how do we know this is like every other dance character? For starters, he's a heel. And, from live show reports, he's integrated much of his dirty curty character into it. So, again, what's the problem?

Remember how everybody thought WWE was going to handle Muhammad Hassan and Eugene? They were wrong.

Maybe I'm pre-judging based on the vignettes. But the vignettes are cringe-worthy, and I don't want any aspect of "Fandango" to appear in Curtis's on-screen character. At all. Period. A ballroom dancer gimmick is not original, or entertaining, or worth putting on TV. And if he's incorporating aspects of his "Dirty Curty" character into it, why the hell does he need to even be "Fan-dan-go"?
Gabriel was a face. He even had like a 2 week feud with Mark Henry.

Falcone: my bad. I guess I just remember hating his guts, too.![]()
Fandango = Do Not Want. Period. Dead On Arrival.
If he gets over and does well... good on him, but for now I deem him and his vignettes "change the channel on sight."
I liked Ziggler froom the get go. His name was justifiable by his gear that made me think he was an 80's throwback.
Absolutely he would have. But the fact is....it was a platform for him.
And the Hassan and Eugene comparisons are much more suited to what you're saying. JBL, too. Give these guys a far chance.
Nick Nemeth becoming Dolph Ziggler, and asking to shake everyones hand, resulting in pretty much a mass "This guy sucks, he's gonna get released" feeling until he booted Batistas face off, and everyone went "Oh, yeah! HE CAN WRESTLE!"
Yeah, don't see how these are in any way similar.

And Fandango will be no different, because it's the type of gimmick that will limit what he can do both as a character and a competitor. It's worse than having no gimmick at all, and the same reason why Brodus Clay's Funkasaurus gimmick is holding him back.
Falcone, there's a big difference between "Hi, I'm Dolph Ziggler" and a gimmick like Fandango. "Hi, I'm Dolph Ziggler" was an obnoxious aspect of an overall character, but it was something that was designed to be dropped as soon as it was no longer necessary because it wasn't the whole of his character. Fandango is never going to shed this without a complete repackaging. He's named after a Spanish couple's dance, for Pete's sake!
The Undertaker is named after a mortician. ANY gimmick can adapt over time. Look at early Undertaker.
A wrestler named The Undertaker is a lot easier to take seriously, and has a lot more room to grow and evolve over time, than one named after a dance.
