    Default WWE Network-DirecTV, Smackdown Future

DirecTV has emerged as the best shot at the WWE Network making its way to television.

While WWE officials feel selling the network at $29.99 (at most, proposed price points listed here) will kill the pay-per-view business except for Wrestlemania, it will guarantee them money. Piracy and online stream sites remain a problem and are seen as part of the reason for reduced pay-per-view revenue. Guaranteeing a monthly amount for the WWE Network will be a way to combat this.

We’re told there are some “very negative” on this model but its supporters point to how the NFL Sunday Ticket single handily saved DirecTV and with over 20 million subscribers, it would be enough to force cable providers like Comcast and Time Warner to carry it as well.

There also remains a possibility of Smackdown moving to the WWE Network when its contract comes up with SyFy next fall.

Seems like a good idea to me.

    Think of it this way:

If I purchase WWE Network I would be paying $360 for the year ($29.99/month). That's not a bad deal at all. I'm willing to add this to my bill.

I have Direct and I find it to be a positive. I think WWE could air a lot of different stuff like NXT, Classics on Demand programming, Superstars, WWE movies and other programming that was being thought of for WWE. What about that Wrestler Wives show VH1 tried to do?

Btw I highly doubt it will be $30. That's the maximum price it will be.

This would be a risky move, it's a gamble for sure. I don't think anyone knows how successful it will be, there are so many variables.

That's a good idea. I would like to see more round table discussions as well. I would also be nice to see WWE air old PPVs from their company, WCW, and ECW. I've always wanted to watch Fall Brawl 1993 in good quality.

Yeah I look at WWE Network being a mix of NFL/NHL Network and an HBO/Showtime. You can air sports and news but you also can show other shows and or older documentaries for DVD/Blu-ray. And no with the HBO/Showtime comment, I am not saying air the Hotel Eroticas with Candice Michelle or other potential softcore porn that featured future WWE divas...

Damn I really hope it won't cost $30 a month, I wouldn't be able to afford that on top of my already huge pile of bills. I've got dish network anyways so I'm screwed either way right guys ?

So they want SmackDown to be seen by even less people?

I guess so. Maybe this means SD could go live every Tuesday Night on WWE Network.

If the WWE Network is $30 a month, I'm out. I wouldn't pay that much for the NFL or NHL network and I won't do it for the E either. This has been my concern since they announced the WWE Network. I said back then that if they move Raw and Smackdown to their network and charge an additional fee like it was HBO than it would kill any chance of me sticking around as a fan.

Yeah, I hardly want to pay $30 to watch a wrestling show in person (especially when most WWE shows in that instance are upper deckers).

I'm sure as hell not paying $30/month to watch creative half-ass their way through Smackdown and most PPVs.

Dont have Direct TV so it will suck for me. I dont think they would Smackdown to it because they lose out alot of viewers. Would like to see USA pick up Smackdown for Tuesday or Thursday nights.
