Bad TLC 12' Buyrate, Botch at Houseshow hurts Punk

The latest WWE estimates for the WWE TLC PPV on 12/16 has the show doing 71,000 buys domestic and 99,000 buys international for a total of 170,000 buys. This would be the lowest domestic buyrate for a WWE PPV all year in 2012 and ties the 2010 Bragging Rights PPV as the third worst domestic number in modern history.

Given how well some of the "B" WWE PPV events were drawing in 2012 it was considered a big surprise as to how low the domestic total was for the final event of the year.

WWE star CM Punk took a bad bump getting dropped on his head while taking a suplex from The Miz on Saturday night at the WWE live event in Springfield, Missouri. The incident went down during the tag team main event featuring Punk tagging with WWE United States Champion Antonio Cesaro vs. Miz and Ryback. Punk rolled out of the ring shortly after taking the bad bump and was later helped to the back by WWE officials.

Early reports are that Punk was sore, but was expected to be okay and work tonight in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

No WWE Champion at the TLC PPV is a good enough reason why the buyrate was horrible. Hopefully CM Punk is OK. I read this report on another site with a fan report saying that Miz was telling the referee to check on Punk during the match. I'm a bit alarmed by all of the comments regarding this matter on various news sites with some fans suggesting WWE firing Miz for this.

Mr. Mizanin might be back in the dog house... we all know how long he was there after dropping Truth, this could be even worse. Accidents happen, but expect The Miz to have 'jobber' status for a while.

Survivor Series also bombed and it had Cena, Ryback and Punk in the main event. There was impatience in the audience at the end of the year, I think everyone just wanted to get everything out of the way and get to Rock/Punk. The booking rendered the fall year pretty irrelevant, and they paid the price.

As for Miz, you can't fuck up a suplex. I mean for goodness sake.

CM Punk has been bitching about Miz for years. I doubt he went to the back silently. Miz has dealt with getting yelled at before for a botch as well as being teased by the veterans. He won't let this get to him.

Why would WWE fire him with TNA going on the road? Miz has a following despite being despised by hardcore fans. Firing Miz would be a horrible decision for WWE to make.

If RVD, Hardy, Christian, Angle, Hogan etc had no drastic changes to the TNA fan base, there's literally zero chance Miz will.

I would assume the majority of Miz fans are younger WWE first fans and have no idea TNA exists.

Like I said I think Miz could make a great career for himself in commentary. He can still host MizTV segment and get furniture thrown onto his head.

I agree. They are expensive and there are too many of them. I ordered one PPV last year and it happened to be TLC LOL.

To be fair, they had invested a huge deal of time and effort into Kennedy before they canned him for supposedly being unsafe.

Granted, he was never WWE Champion and never won the main event of WrestleMania, and I don't think Miz's job is in danger. But I wouldn't be surprised if they ease up a bit on his push.
