Cena Wins the Rumble!

Last night in Phoenix, John Cena was the last man standing in the 30-man brawl. That's right, the leader of the Cenation is going to Wrestlemania 29. But we all saw this coming. Cena's obviously going to go after Rock for the title which I'm looking forward to. Any thoughts on Cena winning? How was the Royal Rumble?

I agree with what you're saying. This is Ryback's...4th main event match loss? Or something close to that anyway. Now I know that yeah he was screwed out of 3 of those, and the Rumble loss isn't really a "loss" but he isn't winning. That is the main point for me anyway - he is not winning those main event matches so he'll be viewed as such by the fans. He's dominate, he beats everyone but once it becomes an important match or whatever, he just won't win. Hopefully WWE change it and he wins maybe one of the elimination chamber matches.

He was gonna win the HIAC match originally but Vince changed it cause of the Rock cause Rock was under the impression he'd be the one to end Punks title reign or something which I find to be ridiculous. Yes Rock is huge draw and you don't wanna lose that, but holding back a guy you're trying to push who's gonna do much more in the future to come cause of that? IMO thats a bad decision. Yes Rock winning and ending Punks reign is awesome, but holding back a possible future main eventer isn't...but I get it.

I don't mind the HIAC loss as much. They backed themselves into a corner with the booking of that, and it created this whole Brad Maddox deal. Even the first time The Shield interfered in a Ryback match was OK. It's just that it continued to happen and I know it's a way of protecting him, but when he had his TLC match with Punk we all knew that The Shield would cost him. The possibility of him winning main event matches is very low. I'm sure it'll turn around eventually though.

Ryback had to enter the Rumble at 30, because he would have run out of gas at 29.

He may look strong but i'm hearing his reactions fade away, which is not a good thing. The guys needs a huge win at WM, I say the world title but looks like ADR is in the way of that.

They're really not. People keep saying that his inability to win is affecting his crowd reaction but I'm just not hearing it. He was clearly the crowd favourite again last night - and I think his popularity has stayed the same (if not increased!) over this recent period. I missed a couple of Raw's a while back and his pop seemed to double during that time.

Marked out for when Cena came out, marked out for when he jumped right into the middle of all those guys throwing punches, and marked out when he eliminated Ryback. It felt like the Cena of old. I missed that Cena.

It was obvious once Cena got 10 minutes to cut a promo about it and everyone else got 15 seconds.

I guess it is another brass ring to give to Cena that not many other people have. Its a bummer that Ryback or Ziggler couldn't have won though, at this point in his career you can justify a million reasons to give him a WWE title shot at Mania and yet they go with the biggest justification for a a WM title match while these two guys could have been truly launched while they are still hot with one of the biggest stamps of approval that WWE has and while they are on the cusp of being big deals.

I get it, but it still feels like a throwaway the way his MITB win did.

I can't remember if I wrote this in another thread before the boards went down however my only problem with both Cena and the Rock winning is that it is a bit too obvious, however Cena was a solid choice to win the Rumble this year.

I'm a huge Cena fan, but this kinda got me mad. I wanted Ryback to win it all. Ehh, I'm good though. At least this means Cena will most likely get the belt at Mania.

I swear once Ziggler was eliminated the hardcore fans just had their energy sapped. I could clearly hear less boos for Cena after that.

Would it have been a better build to have Cena win a #1 chamber match at EC? Instead of the Rumble I mean. It'd still get to the Rock/Cena match, although it wouldn't have as much time to build. By doing that Ryback or someone else could have won and set up a WHC match which seems wide open at the moment. I think the same conclusion could have been drawn if Cena hadn't won the Rumble since the WWE wouldn't lost anything significant if they had done it a different way. Cena winning was a little predictable, but I'm ok with it.

It's about time the RR victory meant something and a wrestler won their second Rumble.

Was clearly telegraphed but there's nothing wrong with that as long as the delivery is good and I'd have to say, I was very impressed with the 2013 Rumble. They won me over with the second entrant and I'm not even a fanboy of the guy!
