Default Time for the Inaugural (Not really) RAW Party

It's the last RAW before the Royal Rumble.

It's the last chance for CM Punk and The Rock to try an one up each other, and win the approval of the fans.

It's the last chance for any of the 30 men in the Rumble match to prove themselves worthy of the challenge.

And it's the last chance before the Road to Wrestlemania officially begins.

And as accustom to tradition, on the final RAW before the PPV, they present an annual hommage to the biggest match on the WWE's annual calendar. A 4 minute factoid segment called "The Royal Rumble: By the Numbers."

Enjoy this final rest stop before "The Road" begins.

"Every man's heart one day beats its final beat, his lungs breath their final breath. And if what that man did in his life, makes the blood pulse through the body of others, and makes them believe deeper in something larger than life, then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized by the storytellers, by the loyalty, by the memory, of those who honor him and make whatever the man did live forever."

I'm not going to watch this episode very intently, because I know that as soon as I hear Michael Cole say "When it comes to the Royal Rumble, it's all about the numbers", I will rage quit because the numbers are random and utterly meaningless when it is all a work. Fuck that video package.

I'm having seizures just thinking about Cole saying that.

But this is the first night in ages where I'm actually going to (hopefully) get to sit back and enjoy the whole show in relative peace. Can't wait to see Dwayne and Punk's interactions.

If we have an 'over the top rope challenge' tonight, I might rage. Every single year it's some lame attempt to build hype for the Rumble that way, instead of having people show intent and emotions to want to win the Rumble. Remember when Angle said he was going to win for the troops? That's a reason. Not, let's just do it to do it.

Remember when people stayed On-Topic? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

I liked Randy's backstage interaction with Sheamus on SmackDown. He said he had to win. I like that: it shows a vulnerability to Orton, as though he realizes that this is his best chance to get his career back on track. WWE needs more of that in general, but especially with the Rumble.

Is Paul forgetting about Tiffany's esteemed run as ECW's general manager?

Actually, scratch that, I'm sure he's tried to.

You don't have to tell me that, I loved the Tiffany era. I imagine Paul wasn't nearly as fond of it.

Yeah, she was amazing in that role. And that spear on Rosa on the final match of ECW was pretty sweet.

Ah, I miss ECW. So much better than this show.

Well. Shit just got real. (Guess Rocky had other plans for the night?)

Hold on, did someone post a proper preview? We wouldn't want anyone getting too excited and misinterpreting what is and what isn't advertised for tonight's show again.

The Rock vs. Vickie Guerrero feat. CM Punk (The WWE Champion)

The Rock's jokes sound like Cena's jokes, but less hated.

    Manti Teo references! Topical!

Didn't really fit the situation, but still, way to go.

    Topical reference, Rock
"There is only one sin, only one. And that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft....When you kill a man, you steal a life. You steal his wife's right to a husband, rob his children of a father. When you tell a lie, you steal someone's right to the truth. When you cheat, you steal the right to fairness."
