Default El Generico Signs with WWE?

That seems to be the rumor.

The guy's over at pwponderings, who I know, are reputable and have contacts with various wrestlers, they have reported it on Twitter tonight

It's been suggested for many months now and comes as Generico pulled out of DDT4 this coming weekend, where he was to partner Kevin Steen.

The greatest babyface in the world and one of the best wrestlers in the world has finally seemed to have got his chance, and not a second too soon.

I've had good luck with pwponderings in past, most notably on the signing of Brodie Lee. There were one of the reasons why I miss having a facebook account for there constant updates and reviews.

Not too sure how I feel about this. This could turn out well, but I have some doubt in how WWE will use him.

I made a thread about this like 3 months ago....kinda was shocked nothing really then transpired. It was sort of like Chris Hero and that whole thing, wonder if there had been some kind of snag. Never too wrong having someone like this employed...maybe takes away Santino's minutes.

I am a big El Generico fan, so I love that he has possibly signed with the WWE. I doubt they will, but I would love to see the WWE not change his gimmick at all.

I heard rumors of this when I heard about with the Final Battle build-up like the last few days which makes sense because ROH was his home. That was a head-scratcher knowing Generico jumped to DGUSA on WrestleMania weekend and has not worked ROH since. I hope he did get signed and I hope he learns in NXT and he can move up in a similar look and gimmick. I doubt that his look and gimmick will not be touched but I think in this day of trying to get more lucha guys, it may work.

Well Sin Cara is pretty much a failure so no wonder they're looking for some masked wrestlers to replace Rey.

That was proven to be a fake tweet that got sent out. Like anyone would tweet a pic with their WWE contract before it got signed and returned... Plus I doubt AAA would invest the Octagon name and a new Pentagon ready to feud with him if he had a serious offer. I know AAA is nuts but not THAT nuts.

I would say Cara was a failure but only because they didn't have people that could work with him. The only true luchador that they had work with him until the Hunico feud was Chavo Jr. who has long become a WWE style guy rather than a luchadore. And unlike Rey Mysterio, Cara never was given the chance to perform on an American stage to learn the US style.

They should call him Mr. Ole! and leave the rest of his gimmick untouched.

Was pretty much my reaction when I read this, this morning.

I've been wanting Generico to get signed for a while now. Huge fan of the guy. He's easily been the best Indy talent around for a few years now for me.

The mexican audience will not cheer for Generico like they would Sin Cara, so no Generico is not Cara's replacement. But color me excited, now we need the other skinny black guy and I will be happy.

There has been conflicting reports on this signing for a few months now. I'll wait till hes on the FCW or NXT roster page to believe it.

They should though since Generico's a good/entertaining wrestler and takes his mask seriously.

I guess since Generico isn't Mexican, he just isn't popular?

If not him, then don't be surprised if Johnny Gargano drops his belt.

He can be popular but not as popular, same thing with Canada and its wrestlers.

Why would they sign Chuck Taylor-Lite when the real deal is right there?

    Confirmed.

WWE has signed El Generico to a deal, PWInsider.com confirmed this morning. As we noted several months back, the company has had interest in him and it's been Generico's goal since not signing with Ring of Honor to get into the company.

One of the reasons WWE was so interested in Generico was that he speaks a number of different languages. The feeling was that would in handy as an asset for international markets.

Generico was removed from this weekend's Pro Wrestling Guerrilla event in California and it appears may already be done on the independent scene. He returned to Ring of Honor at Final Battle 2012 in what may prove to be his last-ever match with longtime partner/rival Kevin Steen.

Generico's signing is said to be part of a bigger WWE plan as the company has a number of names on their radar that they want to lock in for deals. I am told it's a Triple H move and that there will be a lot more signings to come, as long as those the company are interested in can pass the necessary medical exams.

*Shrug* They showed interest in him before. Also, WWE's gonna finally have to make a shitload of cuts.
