2013 Royal Rumble Thread

There wasn't a place to put predictions for the Royal Rumble card or the match itself. So I just started this one. Last night's promo sure got the wrestling world excited about the Rumble. We know now the WWE Championship match as well as some of the participants in the Rumble. I'll update this post as the card gets finalized.

I'm going to predict the following matches to be added to the card:

One idea that "pooped" onto me was the chance of Dolph Ziggler winning the Royal Rumble while still holding the MITB briefcase. That would be unheard of in the MITB era. If that does happen WWE should use that opportunity for Vickie to strip Dolph of his MITB briefcase and putting the briefcase on the line at WM 29 between 8 superstars. WWE can still have the July MITB PPV by simply making it clear that whomever wins the WM MITB must cash in before the July PPV.

Going off of your predictions which are quite sensible:

WWE Championship
CM Punk (Reigning and Defending Champion) vs. The Rock: Best guess. I just feel a Heyman type of swerve coming on. I'd like to see Brock have some affect on this outcome leading to Brock/Rock at Mania.

World Championship
Big Show (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio for the WHC: I'd like ADR to win and Ziggler to cash in on him thus setting up a feud but I think Show is going to be booked strong.

Team Hell No (c) vs. Team Rhodes Scholars : Just think it's time for Hell No to split up as both are being wasted in the TT division even though they are over.

Antonio Cesaro (c) vs. The Miz : Miz will do the job for Cesaro imo.

Eve (c) vs. Kaitlyn: Eve retains because she fits the WWE model. Would love to see Kaitlin win!

Possibly. If Lesnar enters the Rumble, I think he will so it will plant the seeds for their match at Wrestlemania

I can see it happening.

8. Will Christian return as an entrant?
This, I wouldn't be surprised one bit.

9. Will Mark Henry return as an entrant?
I have a feeling that he will.

10. Will Brock Lesnar return as an entrant?
Yes. He draws number 30. But gets eliminated by The Undertaker.

11. Will The Shield attack entrants? Who?
I believe they will be in the match.

12. Will AJ Lee or another Diva be an entrant?
I hope not. And for that matter, keep the damn commentators out of the Royal Rumble match as well.

13. Will the losers of the WWE Championship and World Championship matches enter? Who?
CM Punk.

This is my toss up. Cesaro is doing a great job as the US Champion and The Miz seems to be the guy who can shut this guy up. And if anyone can elevate the US Title, it's The Miz. And if anyone can elevate and get Cesaro over to an upper mid-card heel, it's The Miz. I don't see a need for a title change so I'll go with Cesaro retaining in a solid match.

19. Who will win the World Title match?
There was someone here on the forum who suggested Del Rio vs Ziggler for the World Title at Wrestlemania in which Ziggler loses the match but beats down Del Rio and cashes in his briefcase and walks out with the belt. And I can actually see that. Alberto Del Rio is a great performer. Although I think the WWE is trying too hard to appeal to just one (Latino) culture when Del Rio can be appealing to everyone regardless of ethnicity. I don't see a reason for a title change right now if the long term plan is to put the belt on Ziggler at Wrestlemania. As far as Big Show goes, if the long term plan is for him to feud with Ryback, then it should not be for the World Title. Ryback is in the main event picture. But if he's going to be a champion in the long term, he needs some big feuds over the course of 2013. I'm going to go with Alberto Del Rio retaining.

20. Who will win the Tag Team Title match?
I love Team Hell No. But it's time to split them up and let them feud with each other at Wrestlemania. So I see a Daniel Bryan heel turn and Team Rhodes Scholars winning the Tag Team Titles.

21. Who will win the WWE Title match?
When I first heard the announcement that Rock was challenging for the WWE Title at the Royal Rumble, I already knew the plan. John Cena vs The Rock for the WWE Championship in the Main Event of Wrestlemania. I still believe that this will happen. But the promos leading up to this match actually planted the seeds for doubt. Maybe Punk can retain. Maybe Paul Heyman will be a factor. Could Heyman turn on Punk? Could Rock turn heel? It's honestly not far fetched.

The Rock will become WWE Champion at the Royal Rumble.

I'll answer # 18 for now.

The Royal Rumble Pre-Show aspect leads me to believe that The Miz will win the title. WWE wants fans to watch this via youtube, facebook, or whatever internet site they want to use. It's a great way to build the credibility of putting matches online. Also, Cesaro won his title on the Summerslam Pre-Show. It would ironic if his reign ended the same way. The "Pre-Show" idea may seem like it's not important but what's the big deal? The match is still in front of a big crowd and seen live by fans.

My quick prediction is Dolph Ziggler at 1. Cena at number 2. They both last the entire time and are the final two wrestlers left. At times they will work together to eliminate competitors, and hinting at a Dolph face turn and also lightly hinting at a Cena heel turn.

The Big Red Eliminator with eleven eliminations and fifteen consecutive Royal Rumble appearances. So, I think what we should conclude from all of this data is that Kane is Mr. Royal Rumble.

Brad Maddox and John Hennigan. Maddox might break Santino's record of lasting the least amount of time though I can see Maddox take his time outside the ring until someone like Ryback throws him in

I think they'll be in the match and all 3 will be in the ring at one point and start dominating, throwing names out like Miz and Morrison(Who team together and kick ass) and others until Ryback, Orton and Sheamus all dump all 3 to a heavy cheer from the fans. Would not be shocked if after that, Shield get in and screw Ryback and throw him out.
