Default Dean Ambrose in god-mode on this week's NXT

Unfortunately I can't embed a youtube video because WWE is strict on NXT videos, but I'm sure you all know where to find it by now. I can't recommend watching the very end of this weeks year-end recap NXT enough. The show finishes with a brand new Shield promo, that's largely NXT specific (ironically Ambrose's first appearance on the show). Rollins addresses his upcoming match with Corey Graves (he's still the NXT champion - and this promo sets him up as more of a heel character, complaining about how the title hasn't gotten him anywhere).

But the real star here is Dean Ambrose, who briefly gets in to that promo zone that only he can find, as he rants on life's injustices - providing a little more rationale behind the idea of the Shield more than using it as simply an empty catchphrase.

Go watch it, and then come here and talk about Ambrose. More! [/jericho]

That...was amazing. Ambrose has topped himself. Rollins part wasnt that bad either.

It was a good promo, but it didn't blow me away. I thought Rollins was just as good.

For reference, Austin's ECW promo is and will always be the standard for god-mode.

I'm kinda baffled that anyone could possibly think that Ambrose and Rollins are on the same level. And I like Seth, and the whole idea of the Shield, but when he gets cut off by one of the other two it's just frustrating.

    me either.

"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

When Dean Ambrose is in the zone, he's in the fucking zone. Very few can keep up with him when he is at the top of his game. This was a great promo by the Shield, and that's including Bland.

That was freaking great! I really can't wait until Ambrose gets some live promo time. Ambrose aways impresses me on the mic. He just has that extra gear he can go into. But I do have to say, that was the best promo Seth Rollins has had as part of the shield, probably his best since he's been in the company. Hopefully thats a sign of things to come with him. Seems like his confidence on the mic is growing.

    You know what sucks?

That promo probably won't ever be seen on Raw or Smackdown because O NOEZ it might get people cheering for them.

Good job, but "god-mode"? He got emotional, points out the obvious while repeating the same phrase over and over, and then gets loud while making a facial expression...not bad, but god like? I get people are excited about him, but a huge hyperbole right there.

It was a good promo nothing special, Ambrose has done promos a hundred times better than this.

I'm begging for Roman Reigns to discover a 2nd octave, inflexion, emotion or something during promos. It's kinda funny how his delivery is so one-note.

God your attitude is so annoying.

Anyway I think it's pretty sad if people can't see what's so good about this. It's much more than repeating the same thing over and over. Anyway different opinions I guess!

It's about the intensity and the way he acts as if he truly believes the Shield is fighting the good fight. You can see his character when you look at his eyes. That's what sets Ambrose apart from the others.

That was a pretty good promo in the PG era....you guys have to give Jon his props here. I bet he had to say that from a script too or had to follow some guidelines in that promo.

Not the best of all time but he's well ahead of the game in the department.

The PG era means nothing in terms of limiting promos. If you're a good promo, you're a good promo. You could make the argument that overscripting hurts some of the guys, but if you've got the talent you'll overcome it.

And his name is Dean for fucks sake.

Yeah, that's the most impressive part. He's only been on the main roster for like 2 months.

No but it does restrict how far one can push it, especially if you are new and haven't earned the big people's trust with the mic. I don't disagree, I am not discrediting anything he did in that promo but I am just saying he came off convincing and really remarkable. He kind of reminded me of The Governor of The Walking Dead with his preaching....it was just really good.

Real name and long term ring name was Jon, you know what I meant....

Being able to swear doesn't improve a promo, if anything, needing it is a limit.
    That's all, folks.

Yeah too much swearing unless your Austin doesn't do you well, especially for intellectual promo cutters ala Sandow/Rhodes/Ambrose but can't ever deny the impact a big curse word can have if said right and all....gets oohs and ahhs from the crowd and gets their attention if used correctly.

    That's just as bad.

I don't see God like here, it was a good promo no doubt, but God-like is a vast overstatement I think. I think Rollins was every bit as good here to be honest.
