Default Did Punk go too far in tearing down Miz's wrestling ability?

Look, I'm no fan of The Miz's in-ring work, but jeez freaking louise was Punk rather brutal to Miz during the lie detector segment on Raw last night. The guy legitimately came off like a bastard, and that's saying a lot considering what a condescending jerk Punk is known to be.

Also, why is Punk constantly allowed to get shooty with his material. It's a worked show, so attack Miz's character, personality, whatever, but don't go out of bounds with snarky, shooty remarks.

And wow, how is it that Punk has so much disdain for a guy who gave him so much praise on his DVD? Again, I'm not a fan of the Miz's in-ring work, but if Punk has a personal issue with Miz, he should keep it behind the scenes or express it during radio interviews, but don't let it seep into the worked product.

I know Punk was sour over Miz being the main event at maina 27. Punk said so in his dvd. I think Punk was the same as he was without crossing the line. It's not like Punk said "hey look it's A-Train: when wrestling Tensai or said "Yep yep yep, what it do" to Ryback.

Yeah, he was unprofessional as all hell and it wasn't anything "real" about it. It was a dude being a dick and another dude not feeding in to it and being professional in Miz.

However, Punk like always will get a pass because he watches Walking Dead or some shit

That was far too shooty for me, and not the good kind, no doubt. I imagine they talked about him taking shots at Miz, and then Punk took liberties when it came down to it. If that's the case, it sort of leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

For like a week, since I'm such a Punk mark.

It's like when Helmsley tried to bury Cena back in 2006 by dissing his wrestling ability. And to make things worse, Cena agreed with him!

Dislike? Yeah, fine. But Punk talks about Miz as if he were the worst thing to happen to professional wrestling. I thought the stuff he said on his DVD was uncool but not too bad, but the stuff he said last night was downright malicious.

I agreed with most of it.

Was it malicious? Maybe. Maybe Punk just thought he was being cool, like the ratings/attendance talk earlier. That's scum-bag pro-wrestlers for you.

He was portraying a character that is supposed to make you despise him and his observations about Miz's capabilities are accurate and correct.

He's the heel that shoots his mouth all the time.

Why was he in the wrong here?

Building a star involves accentuating positives and hiding negatives.

The only reason why people care is because there is a prior history of him not liking Miz and thinking he's a shitty worker. That automatically turns into controversy when anything is said on tv about it. To me it's less what he said and more how he came off. Punk is already pretty shooty, and when you add something with legit history it can seem kind of shitty.

Makes it all the better to me. I like those moments because you never know when someone is really going to go off.

That's all good and well. But I think most people have an issue with it being a little unprofessional, and even as a Punk fan, I agree to an extent. He didn't go on a rant and cut a full on promo on him so I can look past it pretty easily. But at the same time, I can see how people would be peeved by it.

I actually liked the segment and I thought Punk was well enough in character. Yeah I know the whole main eventing WM issue but I thought it fit and I liked the raw intensity of the segment. Punk could have been scripted to bait Miz. You never know.

People act like this sort of thing is unusual or new with Punk. Punk has always been this way and I love it.

My god people why does everything have to be a work around here..? being a heel does not give you permission to be an asshole 24/7 off the clock just so you can stay in character...

    open your eyes please.

Exactly. The Guy gets a bigger pass than anybody in wrestling and doesn't draw to warrant any of it

I get that same feeling about Punk. However, if Cena did it, the pitchforks wuld be out in full force. And he draws.

meh, I enjoyed what he said about Miz specially since I agree.

"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

Not true. Many people found it hilarious when Triple H was bashing Punk's "straight edge" lifestyle in a promo. Yet most people never gave Hunter a pass on anything.

"You don't drink, you don't smoke, you don't do drugs, that's great kid neither do I. But I don't look like Amy Winehouse on a weeklong bender" (believe that was the line).

Maybe it's because they don't hate each other, or they don't until the dirtsheets say they do. But hell, I think people are just being too sensitive on this one. Miz blew up Kofi Kingston a few weeks ago and nobody had a problem with it I don't think.

Exactly. This product and its fans have become so pussified, it's ridiculous. Thanks a lot Cena.
