The Rock to Challange The Undertaker at WM 29 ?

Just and idea I had that is now being teased a little bit over at wwe.com with them run down possible option for what The Rock will due at WM 29.I have thought on and off about the idea of The Rock going after The Undertaker and his streak at WM 29.It would be a epic encounter and a match that I think a lot of fans could really get behind.


So would anyone be up for a Rock/Taker Wrestlemania match up ?

With the Rocks ego, he is probably the biggest actual threat to the streak so why not

I'd actually like to see this, I think Undertaker has three big openents left, but I'm not sure in which order I'd like to see him wrestle them in. I'd love to see him face John Cena, that ones a given, The Rock, and Brock Lesnar. With the right story I think all three people could be a compelling threat to the streak. Brock Lesnar less so, but then you could do a story that Undertaker is the heart and soul of the WWE and he's always been all about respect, and Brock has none of that.

I think the nostalgia value of The Rock and Undetaker facing each other one last time at Wrestlemania would be awesome. The match wouldn't be a technical classic, but they always used to have great chemistry. I'd pay money to see it. Then it frees John Cena up to main event against Punk in their final encounter, and Brock Lesnar could have a good brawl against Ryback. That'd be a card I'd hand over money to see.

I wouldn't mind seeing it. And there would be nice logic behind it. Rock said in order to establish himself as the greatest WWE superstar ever, he had to come back and beat John Cena, the face of current day WWE. He did that. Then he said he had to win the WWE Title one last time. Then he does that at the Rumble, by beating the longest reigning WWE Champion of the past 25 years. After that, he could say there is one last thing he must do in order to truly become the greatest ever, and that's be the one to break Undertaker's WM streak. He wouldn't, of course, but it would be great to see that angle and match. The only problem is, after Rock beats Punk, he'll be the WWE Champion. What then? Have Rock-Taker for the WWE Title? Obviously not gonna happen. Have Rock just vacate the belt after winning it because he wants to challenge Taker's streak? Makes no sense to vacate the belt if he is still gonna wrestle (even if his main goal was to beat Taker's streak), not to mention it makes the belt look somewhat unimportant. So, with what's been set up with Rock at the Rumble, it's not happening.

Rock is a huge sell out so I do not think he deserves that spot. I rather have Cena VS Taker or Ryback VS Taker is a streak vs streak match. If Rock wants to do Mania, he will have to do something with Triple H (two birds with one stone!) or put over a younger guy like Ziggler

The minute Rock called himself the GOAT and ignored Taker's Streak, that was the give away that this match would never happen.

It wouldn't be the worst thing they could do and the Rock could always say "there is just one thing the great one has yet to do in the WWE..." or something like that. However barring something major happening I do believe that the main events for WM 29 have been booked well in advance;

That's just it, he already acted as if there was nothing left to prove. He beat Cena and called himself the GOAT, so that pretty much eliminates any chance of Rock/Taker.

I really starting to like the idea of The Rock .Vs The Undertaker.If they went that route here's how I would book the rest of the top of the card.


The Rock .Vs The Undertaker
Ryback .Vs John Cena-WWE Title
Triple H .Vs Brock Lesnar
Sheamus .Vs CM Punk-World Title


You would then have a line up that could cover all of your bases.In Rock/Taker you have a dream match up and something for the older Attitude fans and could help bring in some of the old fans that have left over the years.In Cena/Ryback you have the current biggest star in the company in John Cena going up against the next big thing,and maybe passing the toruch off to him.In Triple H/Lesnar you have that big personal blood feud and then lastly in Sheamus/Punk you have the two best works in the company finally going one on one on a big time stage.

Your right,I kind of forgot that Rock bet Hogan,Austin and Cena.So really if he's not going to wrestle The Undertaker what point would any Title match or any other match matter.The only thing left for him to due would be to end the streak.No one on the current roster not even Punk is on the level of Hogan,Austin or Cena the only one close to them would be Taker.

This is true, but as far as his GOAT claim goes, he also lost to Austin twice and only beat him when he was past his prime, same goes for Hogan. Breaking Taker's streak would be even more impressive, though I wouldn't wanna see it happen.

On the other hand:

New details are coming out about The Undertaker's status for WrestleMania 29 and it's said that The Deadman is not in good shape at all. One thing that wasn't reported after his WrestleMania match with Triple H this year is that the hip replacement he had a few years back was damaged pretty bad.

There is talk that some of the surgical work he has had done over the past few years is really beat up to the point that he's back to square one. Taker had been going to see specialists in New York but he is so beat up now that WWE has been flying the doctors to his home in Texas instead.

There is also a lot of talk within WWE that if he does end up doing anything at WrestleMania 29, it likely won't be a big time physical match like we are used to. As we have noted, there is talk of having Taker work the Royal Rumble as a surprise entrant with the idea he can do a few memorable spots before being eliminated.

Right now The Undertaker is not being figured into any major WrestleMania plans internally. The feeling is if he wants to do it and feels like he can do it, WWE will make room for him. It wouldn't be the first time but it's possible could see The Undertaker skip a WrestleMania in 2013.

Some people within WWE are under the impression that the "end of an era" hype from this year's WrestleMania against Triple H really was the end as far as big time WrestleMania matches for The Undertaker go.

It would definitely be interesting to see such a match, but I don't think they will go with this direction.
