Question chris jericho ends contract with wwe

    credit wrestling obeserver newsletter

WWE officials had been negotiating with Chris Jericho on a new contract in recent weeks, but talks fell through. WWE opted to cease talks with the wrestler/musician in recent days.
It is believed that the proposed deal fell through due to control over when he worked as well as his activities outside of WWE. Officials were seeking an arrangement where the company would be his top priority and they would have some control over his outside endeavors. Jericho, on the other hand, wanted complete control of all of his activities.

Jericho was open to returning as early as this month had WWE agreed to his terms. He was looking to work forty to fifty dates per year, including full-time for cycles and even assisting the developmental program. However, he would determine the periods when he worked and would be strictly unavailable during tours, which WWE was not in favor of.

I find it hilarious that they're playing hardball with him when they're running lower than ever on big stars.

Well that's annoying. Let him come and go as he pleases.

He's got all the leverage in the world, he might as well use it. He doesn't need the money, and he's got other things to do. Why should he let WWE dictate when he does them?

Jericho, Edge, Christian. and Lance Storm will probably start their own company together. Wasn't that a plan like 2 years ago? Christian is the only one that probably couldn't participate.

I have it! That is the fan fic idea I can make my debut with.

To think I didn't care for any of the 4 the majority of their careers

Lack of big stars is precisely what WWE needs. It will force them to develop new talent. wCw continuously raided WWE's talent roster. The company was forced to build new stars entirely. They're in the same predicament.

But that's exactly the point, they're not "forced" to not have Jericho. They just don't have him because they're stubborn assholes who think everyone's life needs to revolve around WWE unless your name is The Rock.

    No big loss.

Hopefully they work out something in a year or so but right now, Jericho has done all he can do in the WWE.

Jericho is too smart to let them have any control over what he does outside the company. He comes and goes as he pleases and he's earned that right. He doesn't owe anyone anything, but of course they would love to control his every move but it's just not gonna happen. And if they keep pusning it, they might lose Jericho for good.

He's the 2nd greatest performer in the history of that business. Vince should be bending over backwards to give him everything he wants.

If Jericho wanted his terms met, he'd just start 'Jericho meeting with Dixie Carter' rumors again.

I don't get it. The WWE are assholes for not wanting an employee who dictates when he comes and goes?

They're entitled to want fully committed wrestlers. Jericho is entitled to not be happy about that. Nobody is the bad guy here, it's just an unfortunate end to a tough situation.

    This Canuckian would be thrilled.

Tough break on Jericho. He was one of the veterans who didn't seemd to mind putting new talent over and made them look great doing it. I personally am going to miss the hell out of him. You know when jericho's in the ring you're going to get a good match.

When you combine this with the Edge thing, it just screams "We don't appreciate what you've already done for us" to me. Which I don't like, because neither guy owes them a damn thing.

It's subjective. In my books, nobody surpasses him except The Undertaker.

There's nothing subjective about this one. He is not the 2nd greatest performer in the history of the WWE. He'll be the first to tell you that

On the contrary, it's very subjective.

The WWE is a business. Not Jericho's personal playground. Much like he doesn't owe them a damn thing, they don't owe HIM a damn thing either. Like Todd said, nobody is the bad guy here. At the end of the day, WWE has to look out for their own best interests.

I don't like the fact that they're paying Rock and Lesnar more money than I'm sure Jericho was asking for to do a lot less.

And yes, I know they're much bigger stars. But Brock can get 5 mlion for 35 dates and Jericho can't get a reasonable salary for 50?

I would have gave Brock 5 million for 30 something dates. I mean, he was top PPV draw in the world in UFC. I can see WWE thinking that was a reasonable investment and not seeing the same in Jericho
