Why not an Asian WWE Champion? Or a Middle Eastern WWE Champion?

Why does it always have to be threads about a black WWE Champion?

    Why is this a discussion?

There most likely will be at somepoint. But this thread will likely start another 'WWE is racist' debate.

I think the OP of this thread is racist for not including other ethnicities in his point. [/threaddeconstruction]

Maybe when there's a black U.S. president then?

The Rock is the first African American WWE Champion.

Will there be another black WWE Champion? Maybe Big E. Langston down in NXT. He's big, and has the right look. Could benefit with a Lesnar type push when he's ready to be called up. Kofi could be a possibility, but I doubt he'll ever break out by this point. Still hopeful though. Titus O'Neill has the right look, but lacks in the skills, and while he's developing, he's also over thirty and will probably never get past the tag team/mid-card level. And there's no one else worth mentioning.

I thought Booker T and Bobby Lashley would eventually be the WWE Champion, but it never happened. I can see Truth eventually winning the WHC title if his singles career gets another push, but not the WWE title. Ahmed Johnson was a potential contender back in '97 but that faded quite fast.

If Rock doesn't count than Obama doesn't count as a black President.

Which is BS, so yes the Rock counts as the first black champion.

Now the real question should be will we ever have another one.

Nobody knows obviously, but out of the current group, the only one who I could see making it there would actually be......Titus O'Neil.

Out of all of the black superstars in the WWE today Titus is the only one with the size, the look, and the charisma to potentially become a WWE champion IMO.

    Rock was.

I don't seen why it matters or why it is important. Labelling people by their skin colors and nationalities is beyond backwards and makes the problem worse rather than helping it.

The Rock qualifies and was the first black WWE champ. Will there be another one, who knows. A guy like JYD was EASILY OVER enough to be WWF champ. And that's saying a lot given who Vince liked with the strap. Back then, only transcendant types on the WWF scale held that belt. And JYD I feel was a transcendant type guy, peaking out as arguably the second biggest face in the entire company. Right now, WWE doesn't have a full time black wrestler who is really WWE title material in my eyes. WHC wise, I could see Kofi possibly getting a run. The WHC sadly damn near seems like a upper midcard title at times. Not a knock on Kofi, who I feel was more deserving than a guy like Swagger. The WHC should be on equal footing as the WWE belt. It shouldn't be used for an experiment.

I'm actually gonna disagree with this article a bit, because I don't think the WWE has a brown paper bag test.

On the contrary I think the WWE hasn't put the strap on alot of guys because they aren't black enough, meaning they don't have that certain black man swagger that super stars like Samuel Jackson have.

That's why I think guys like Kofi Kingston or Shelton Benjamin have never been champion.

Look at the ones who have one big titles, Rock, Booker T, Mark Henry, they all have black man swagger, the Rock had it and more which is why he was pushed to the moon.

If WWE had a Black man on the roster who looked and acted like the NFL's T.O. he'd be WWE champion within the first year of his career IMO.

Easily the best post in this thread.

Really, all the people focusing on the race is a huge part of the problem.

Agreed with above sentiment, but for the OP, Lashley was set to be if he didn't leave.

when i read the thread title the first thing that came to mind was the rock/president obama comparison that has already been brought up....

would love to see someone try to tell the rock to his face that he "doesnt count"

I always thought that Ahmed Johnson was on the fast track to becoming the first black champion before his numerous injuries began happening more frequently.

His look and swagger instantly propelled him to the I.C. title, and I believe he would have easily been WWE champion, if he wasn't such a danger to himself and others in the ring.

Also for everyone who's not sure if Rock counts, I'd like to point out that it wasn't until he started throwing up the Black Power fist that he even started getting a major push.

His membership in the all black Nation Of Domination is what put him on the map in the first place, so yes he counts as a black champion.

    *ahem* owen hart.

but completely agree. ill never forget at the end of i think it was king of the ring 1997 the show closed with ahmed hitting the pearl river plunge on the wwf champion undertaker. i thought for sure after that he was on his way. turns out that was were his career peaked and it was downhill from there sadly.
