Default Vince Fails at everything besides Wrestling

WBF, XFL, WWE Network are all major failures. I wouldn't put money on WWE Studios being around very long either. What happened to WWE New York?

Vince is the Undisputed King of promoting Pro wrestling but That is it. His massive ego makes him think he is the king of a "entertainment company" but its not, its just the biggest Pro wrestling company ever. It is no different then what the NWA,WCW,AWA were. They are Wrestling companies not Entertainment companies. I wish Vince would realize this. Don't you? It annoys me when the Wrestlers call themselves "Entertainers". I can go on and on about what needs to happen to improve the product but lets just start with the Foundation.. Promoting Wrestling!!!

Actually it was the fact that he did look at it as entertainment that has kept the WWE around longer than any of the others. People would rather see Kane and DB hug it out because they are watching an entertainment show.

If you want wrestling/wrestlers go watch the NCAA National Championships, Abu Dhabi Submission Grappling tournaments, and MMA(especially the old school stuff).

They've just put it on hold for a while. It's difficult to call something a failure when it hasn't even really got off the ground yet. I think it will eventually but obviously it takes a lot of work.

You missed my point. I love the Entertainment part of wrestling but lets Face it it is supposed to be a Fake Sport. They have went away with Sport more then i like but the point of this thread is how Vince spends so much time with these other Entertainment ventures that all Fail.

Aww...Bleacher Report said something? Hack WrestleZone writers write there.

It's not easy launching a network. It's better WWE evaluate all their options and proceed slowly, instead of rushing a launch and watching it fail like Oprah's network has.

Body building and football were stupid ideas. No one cares about body building and there's too big of a monopoly in US football for a new player. It's like if someone tried to challenge WWE in wrestling today. Stupid to even try, just a waste of money.

WWE Studios, well it's problem is that WWE have restructured it a couple of times because the format sucked. Plus they've picked some REALLY bad scripts...and then reused the plot a couple of times. will it fail outright? No, but there's too much stigma on the WWE name. I predict that eventually they'll rename it (again) to get away from the wrestling connection.

Didn't WWE Times Square shut down because at the time WWE couldn't afford to keep it running?

Nope, it shut down because wrestling stopped being cool. Sure they tried to battle that by changing it's name from "WWF New York" to "The World", but people saw through that...

I think most fully expect the network to fail. Putting shit in the can when they don't even have airtime can't be a good sign...

I think the WWE Network is a great idea, and if I can afford it, I will subscribe to it.

The WWE and its product would entertain me a lot more if they put a strong emphasis on wrestling.

To me Vince is kinda like John Hanna's character on Spartacus Season one...a man who's family's business was promoting gladiators.

He was the greatest gladiator promoter in all of Rome, but he didn't want to just be a simple promoter he wanted to be more, and wanted to be respected by the high society of Rome, he even wanted to be a politician.

He never would reach the status he desired though and pretty much destroyed his family's business in his pursuit of a higher position in life.

He used people and used dirty tactics to achieve many of his goals, a thing that Vince has been accused of himself.

Ultimately in Spartacus, the promoters greed and ego were his undoing and eventually all of it cost him everything.

Not saying Vince is quite as bad as that guy or that he'll eventually suffer a similar downfall, but I couldn't help but think of Vince when that character was on TV.

I can see him wanting be in a higher class of entertainment then wrestling.

I find it funny that he pretty much hates wrestling and does it better then all the guys who booked wrestling and LOVED it.

How long were you waiting to unleash this Spartacus/WWE analogy?

He doesn't like calling his wrestlers, "wrestlers", doesn't like the word "wrestling". He doesn't even like hiring guys on creative who grew up "wrestling" fans.

He pretty much hates that he is stuck in such a business, but it made him rich, and that what makes him awesome.

Dana White does pro wrestling better than Vince McMahon. It's called MMA so Vince going down the entertainment route is why Vince is still around. I was always surprised that Vince didn't jump onto the MMA bandwagon in the early 00's. He's tried so many other things, yet he never tried MMA which is basically real pro wrestling.
DVD Clearout: Raw, Smackdown, Nitro, Thunder, ECW TV, TNA Impact. MUST GO. PM me for details

I'm not getting in to an argument about this.

It's been 10 years now and I still say pro wrestling isn't MMA.

One is real and one is fake. If they're the same then boxing is the same as pro wrestling.

I'd say so. They all promote fake fights. Wrestling just let the cat out of the bag is all.

Vince watched a UFC fight [Liddell vs Rampage]and he said he didn't like it because the wrong guy went over and you can't control that.

You hit the nail right on the head. I don't blame Vince too much for the bodybuilding failure, but the XFL was a bad move from day one. The WWE studios is just plain agonizing to watch. At the very least if they are going to make money losing movies, they should at least make films that are considered successful from a critics view. Many independent films are four star films that don't make a dime because of a lack of big stars, millions of dollars in special effects along with big explosions plus a an advertising campaign that includes a happy meal toy. If you make a few money losing classics, then people will take notice and eventually you will make a few bucks. However, the WWE insists on picking scripts that not only lose money, but are disasters from a critics point of view. I thought it was kind of funny when Vince pulled CM Punk from The Marine 4 and replaced him with The Miz because Punk was drawing too much money at the house shows. If this is how decisions are made concerning the lead actor in your "films" then just abandon the idea already.
