Default Ric Flair as Dolph Ziggler's Manager?

Flair would be legally able to work for WWE on September 10th.
If this didn't get screwed up, I'd mark harder than I had in a long time. Rumors like this shouldn't even be made, it only gets my hopes up.

    No. Please god no.

Flair would overshadow the hell out of Dolph.

How about they let Ziggler be on his own?

    What a novel fucking concept.

Dolph Ziggler does not need a manager. My God, it's time to take the training wheels off.

Put Flair with somebody like Brodie Lee.

It just seems like they don't want Ziggler to be on his own. I am not sure why.

This could work, but I feel like it is time to let Ziggler be by himself and see what happens.

Personally, I don't want to see it. What I want to see is Ziggler get rid of Vickie and then slowly turn face.

I think the best scenario would be that Dolph loses his title match. And either he blames Vickie for losing, or Vickie just quits cause she thinks Dolph's a loser. Enter Ric Flair, and he`ll turn Dolph into a true winner.

I'm not sure why people want a face turn either, honestly. That could kill him if it's botched.

Lets face it, Ziggler cannot be on his own yet, his promos come off as forced and redundant. It would hurt Ziggler if he got crickets every week solo. This would be a great idea for Ziggler, but the better part of this is no more "EXCUSE ME" although they will probably find some TV time for Vickie too.

The reason I want one is because he doesn't get much heel heat during his matches and he doesn't seem to try very hard to get any. Most of Ziggler's heel heat comes from being with Vickie. Also, it just seems like from time to time that the crowd really wants to cheer for him.

I am not sure if it would work, but I think that if done right, he could be a good face. It is atleast worth a try, becuase I don't think he will be a big main event heel. However, I could be wrong and he stays heel and becomes a fixture in the main event winning titles as a heel.

Dolph Ziggler is going to be a victim of overthinking that results in to overbooking.

Oh for god sake, Dolph Ziggler does not need a manager, he is good enough without one. SM hit the nail partially on the head, he needs to ditch Vickie but stay heel since that is when he's at his best and somehow WWE haven't grasped that yet.

You say he is best at being a heel, and maybe he is. However, he has never been a face in the WWE, so how do you know that for sure? Maybe he could be a really good face or even a great one. We have no idea unless they try him out as one. I think he could make a good face, but I am not sure since I have never seen him as one.

I'll admit to perhaps being a bit short-sighted, my fear is that a face turn neuters the guy creatively speaking. If he does turn, I just pray that they don't change anything, fans are cheering Ziggler now, why modify it with a turn of any kind.

All he needs is one big sink or swim test which will only come IMO when they get rid of Vickie.

And that cheering is what will make Dolph a face. The way I see it, he'll cash in the briefcase on ADR after he beats Sheamus, which would pretty much make Ziggler a face. But what WWE does after that is what will either make him a top guy or if he'll become another Swagger. If WWE just leaves his character the way it is, brash, cocky, kind of a jerk, he could be that huge anti-hero that WWE needs. This may sound a bit extreme, but if done correctly, Ziggler could be this generations Rock.

Is exactly what i'm worried about, your right in that if handled correctly he'll be absolutely huge, the ability to handle it is what i'm concerned with. He doesn't need to change a bit yet turns end up necessitating change.

Ugh. I love Dolph and really can't stand Flair at this point , I really cant think of a pairing I'd want less in the WWE right now.

I totally echo the sentiments of just letting Dolph be on his own for awhile and see where it goes , but there is obviously a lack of faith in his charisma and character to just let that happen.

You know, this whole attitude of "the guy can talk, he doesn't need a manager" is part of the reason we don't have awesome managers all over the place anymore. You know who else didn't need a manager? Ric Flair, for starters, but he had several. Hogan didn't need a manager, but he had several. The Legion of Doom didn't need a manager, had several. Same goes for the Dudleys, and Shawn Michaels, and the Undertaker, and countless others. Just because a guy can talk and has presence doesn't mean he shouldn't have a manager, that's not the sole function. Managers are an extra layer of storytelling, an extra tool for telling a story in and out of the ring, and I for one think having a guy like Ric Flair talking up Ziggler as his natural heir would be FUCKING AWESOME BECAUSE IT'S RIC FLAIR, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE SERIOUSLY.

I appreciate that a manager is the obvious choice for a guy who can't string a sentence together to save his life, I get it. But if you told me tomorrow that Harley Race or Jim Cornette was going to start managing Punk I'd be so excited I'd shit myself, because instead of one great character pulling the weight you'd have two working together to give us something truly amazing.

The problem people have with modern managers is that they tend to overshadow their managees. Vickie Guerrero is the prime example. She is one of the most hated heels in the WWE, and will easily overshadow someone like Ziggler in terms of crowd reaction. It could be argued she even overshadowed Edge. That is not the purpose of a manager. They are supposed to enhance the wrestlers, not overwhelm them. People feel the same thing will happen with Flair, and it will, because he's such a big name.

I agree that wrestlers who don't need a manager can have one without consequence. However, in this era where managers are not commonplace, it is much better to assign the few managers we have to poor speakers. Just look at Heyman and Lesnar. They are the perfect tandem.

On a personal level, I'd rather not see Flair in the WWE ever again.

BIG fan of Vickie! Reminds me of Heenan in a weird sort of way. That said, I'd rather see flair go against the mold and manage a non-talking monster type. Someone lower on the cards and in need of the push he gives. Either that or I'd like to see him in an angle (been done I know) where he handpicks a new Horsemen stable (w/Flair in JJ Dillons role).

IMO, Dolph is a modern day, Greg Valentine. He sells as good as Greg and he goes like Greg in the ring but harder although, Greg might have the edge in the technical dept.

Ultimately, it's time for Dolph to venture off on his own.

Sable, you've got to remember that it's 2012 and Flair in 2012 is a bit of a trainwreck, not like he was in his previous run with WWE or even his early TNA days. The bloom is off the rose and he'd definitely overshadow Ziggler, moreso then Vickie. Neither are needed in this day and age.

Finally! I've been calling for it for a while now. If they're going to ride this Rick Rude thing out, he's going to need a manager. Besides, Ziggler isn't good enough on his own.

Only thing is Flair's going to have to tone it all the way down and put ALL the spotlight on Dolf. They're just going to hammer it home with him, on that.

I don't believe Flair can overshadow Dolf anymore than Vicky at this point.

Also, I'm down for anything to get Flair from locking up ever again...
