I like Michael Cole.

Yeah, I said it. Mark me down as the only guy who likes him because I feel like he does a good job in his heel role. I hear so many people say they hate him not because he is a good heel but because they just hate him but honestly I think he is playing a good heel because he is being himself. He isn't a heel who is all about the heels like King was back in the day. Don't get me wrong, he does support some of the heels but at the sametime when something they are doing is wrong atleast he disagrees with their actions. I also like how he makes King or Booker T look like a fool everytime they say somthing stupid. So yeah, I'm a Michael Cole fan.

Booker T makes himself look like a fool on commentary, he doesn't need help from Cole to accomplish that. As for Cole being a good heel I dont think anyone disputes that. The problem is that it detracts from the other talent when the lead announcer is just an inane heel. If he wasn't the lead announcer it wouldn't be a problem.

Cole is a talented announcer, I really liked his work with Tazz on Smackdown. His real shortcoming is the phony emotion he brings to the table. Everything is rehearsed, cold, and fake with him as far as I'm concerned. JR was a little too over the top but he brought what Cole lacks and vice versa.

I think thats a big problem with WWE, both wrestlers and other tv personalities.

He is the worst lead commentator of all time.

I'd take Lord Alfred Hayes over Cole, seriously.

Listen to any commentary from the 80's 90's and 00's up until J.R. was fired and Cole was given the top spot, and see how much better commentary was.

As someone said earlier, his emotion is so forced that it's down right pathetic, his heel commentary is chalk board scratch bad, and idiotic considering that he is playing play by play man, and color man at the same time, rendering Lawler a useless by stander most times.

The good heel announcers add to the show by playing well off of the play by play men, and actually being funny, not loud obnoxious ass holes, who try to talk over the other guys the way Cole does.

He forgets the simplest facts about matches, history and wrestlers, and most times doesn't even actually call the in ring action while it happens.

A good play by play man (which Cole is supposed to be) should be able to call a match so well that you can completely follow the action even if you happen to be blind, but with Cole if your blind you probably don't know what the hell is going on in the ring for about 90% of the match.

He's such a detractor from the action that it's almost better to watch with the volume down, and that's bad considering that commentary was always such a big part of the fun of pro wrestling.

You can tell he's a Vince-type commentator. I really like him. He is actually very good, he basically doesn't fuck up, flows very freely and always puts big situations over well. Downsides are his horrible gimmick for one. Now I don't blame him for this because in fairness to him he is giving it his absolute all. However it sucks. It's too much, or it was too much, he's reined it in now. Second downside is that doesn't put over filler at all, he just discusses the main talking points of the night until the finish. I hate this, but again it probably isn't his fault, he is probably being fed it.

All-in-all, he's good and easily a decent enough replacement for JR.

I don't see any big issues with him anymore now that he's been neutered, I can look at him for the commentary and not the annoying character. He does what he's supposed to do, he put over the huge moments and matches and really gives us the feeling they're going for. However Todd hit the nail on the head, that's all he does. Nothing else matters.

The problem I think is actually Lawler. That dude couldn't be worse if he tried. Honestly.

Im not a fan of cole but i dont hate him either. There was a time when it was getting unbeatable but that was when he was getting involved in the storylines and getting airtime. As a commentator, hes fine.

Michael Cole is the current best commentator. But its hard to not look good when seated next to Lawler and Booker T. I'm glad we don't have to listen to Booker now and he'll be so much more tolerable in the small doses we'll get him in as GM. As far as Lawler goes I wish he was dating one of the crappy divas, so when she gets canned - he walks out (again). He just comes across as an oblivious buffoon who acts like the faces can't do any wrong.

Only times I haven't been able to stand Cole is when he acts like the overbearing heel commentator and/or has to be in a match (no place for a non-wrestler). But he's been on a good streak and I love it when he calls it down the middle and straight (Sheamus committing GTA among other things).


Editted: Hoping WWE can comes to terms with JBL and get him back in the booth - I always enjoyed his commentary as well.

Michael Cole has been pretty good since he's toned down his act. I think he does a good job overall and I'm glad he's stepped it up recently.
