Default ESPN host rips Cm Punk

    credit prowrestling.net
This morning on ESPN Radio, Colin Cowherd, host of ESPN's "The Herd," mentioned CM Punk and his stance on Nike's recent signing of UFC star Jon Jones.

CM Punk opposes the signing of Jones because he feels his past with alcohol makes him a bad role model for kids. Cowherd ripped Punk and called him a moralist who shouldn't have an opinion on alcoholism, citing several wrestlers charged with DUI as well as several drug related deaths in the industry in recent years.
I was listening to ESPN this morning and heard Cowherds rant on Punk live. It was so poor that I actually tried calling into the show to call him a fucking idiot who doesnt know what hes talking about. Off the top of my head some of the idiotic things he said were...

-Pro Wrestlers have no say in moral issues because they all die at 25 from rampant drug and steroid use
-Wrestling appeals to a bunch of 16 year old booger pickers (whatever that means)
-He did have one interesting point which is what we were just talking about yesterday being Punk shouldnt impose his lifestyle onto others. (I agree with that)
-The WWE once had a guy die in the ring (presumably Owen Hart) and they rolled him out of the ring and kept on wrestling

I mean the stupidity he was spewing out just spoke of his ignorance to the wrestling scene these days. CM Punk is his own man, Why is he being lumped in with all the steroid useing wrestlers of the past? Should I have called in and said all Baseball players are morons because they use steroids? Or all football players are stupid because they have a head injury epidemic? Those are false statements. ALL wrestlers dont take steroids and if hes ever seen Punk, He certaintly doesnt. But he has no say because hes a pro wrestler..What a joke

The thing that annoyed me the most though was his mindset that all wrestler are morons and they have no say on anything.

Wow, that's quite idiotic. Generalizations of professional wrestling, professional wrestlers, and professional wrestling fans are usually off the mark. It never surprises me, but it sucks that people don't really get it, I guess.

That's Colin being in his gimmick again. He's always been highly critical of wrestling, even on Sportsnation. I remember when Eddie died and he went on a huge rant that disgusted a lot of people. Cowherd will always over-blow things to get a rise out of people. He's better at it than Bayliss or those other idiots because he makes it believeable when he's in character mode. Beadle one day on Sportsnation blew the cover when they were in Lebron mode, Colin being his bestie, Michelle his hater, then she goes "I know we get into our characters often but that aside, I respect Lebron" blah blah blah.

He knows what he's doing, he does it well.

Yea thats a good way to put it. The generalization is what gets my blood going. Wrestlers get DUI's, Thats correct! But what the hell does that have to do with CM Punk!? He doesnt get those but because hes in an industry that has people who do, HE HAS NO SAY!!!?? Thats the dumbest fucking statement iv heard in a while

ESPN is known for mistreating women, Does that mean Cowheard does it himself? Or has no say on the matter because "it happens where he works"? Offcourse not, But according to this fool Punk has no say because wrestlers are generally morons (which is about as false as a statement can get)

Colin Cowherd thinks he's a really big deal, but he is pretty pathetic. He gets off by stating his opinion which many times is wrong on ESPN and radio. This isnt about a wrestler having an opinion on Jon Jones endorsement, its about a person sharing their opinion on a guy who made a big mistake and got rewarded for it.

Yea and I get that but there is saying things that go against the grain just to rile people up and then there are flat ignorant statements that make you look clueless and out of touch. He just came off as clueless to the pro wrestling scene.

Thats Colins schtick , always has been and always will be and I hardly take it with a grain of salt anymore. He can be entertaining , and I will listen or watch if I have time but usually just to shake me head.

Im not going to get all up in arms about it either , Punk opened Pandora's Box by judging another man from a distance and he and the industry is going to get the same in return.

Cowherd knows who CM Punk is, Michelle Beadle is good friends with Punk and his co-host on Sportsnation. He's trying to get himself over.

I've always hated that guy, and his gimmick. Yeah, I don't buy that anyone could be that much of an idiot and everything about him is a gimmick. Ironic ain't it?

Cowherd aside, I do think it's pretty funny that the only negative thing that's happened to Jones since his DUI arrest is that he lost his Bud Light sponsorship.

Hardly anyone really knows he was even arrested because it's never talked about. Life is good when you're the golden boy.

Ex Co-Host but great point anyways.

Cowherd has always insulted wrestling and its fans , this guy could draw massive heat in the WWE in they have gave him the microphone for 10 minutes and let him go on one of his nonsensical rants about the WWE and wrestling fans in general. I would actually love to see it.

Punk... don't throw stones please. You may not live in a glass house but with all due respect there is plenty of bad PR out there to claim he works in one.

Fuel to the "I've been disrespected. I'm the WWE Champion. I should be the face of the company" fire and potential pipebomb.

Punk is as good a role model as it gets since he's straight edge. I would not be surprised if this becomes promo fodder.

How is this bad? Punk is a heel, and getting heel hate from ESPN now? That is a good thing people. Worst thing ESPN could do to Punk is to play him off as a man of compassion as that would hurt him making it harder for him to work heel.

Doubt Punk will bring it up at all.

Ah The Herd... love him or hate him, he's just doing his thing. I usually listen to his show in the mornings after Mike and Mike, and up here in the Northwest, hes on every comercial known to man!!

Anyway.... I wonder how Coachman and Grisham feel in regards to their co-worker bash of their former company?

Lets face it though, Cowherd is about as opionated as Punk is... so take it for what its worth.

Colin Cowherd sucks. I alway hated his radio show. If he wanted to critize CM Punk he should talk about why he doesn't look healthier if he's so clean. That would be a good rant.

Just Punk isn't being attacked, all of wrestling is.

Punk brought it on himself though...pro wrestlers are the last people who should be critical about other people's past demons since pretty much everyone Punk works with has similar vices if not worse ones.

This guys show sucks really, really bad. I love listening to Mike & Mike, and they sometimes have him on as a special guest. He's terrible, and annoying.

Sportsnation is terrible and unwatchable as well.

It's not his criticism of Punk that bothers me, it's his generalization of wrestling fans and wrestlers. Like I said, ESPN has a rap of mistreating female employee's...does that mean everyone should criticize Cowherd for it?
