Default WWE no longer forced to blur old WWF scratch logo

    http://www.wrestleview.com/viewnews.php?id=1344469033

WWE recently revealed that their legal proceedings with the World Wildlife Fund was settled in the last quarter allowing the company to now display the old scratch WWF logo. The company was forced to blur the logo or hide it in recent years. PWInsider.com reports that WWE wanted the issue settled before the launch of the new WWE Network.

Probably not.....but at least the blurring is gone. That's gotta count for something.

Thank God! We had to watch shit from '98-'02 with the entrance way, the titantron, the turnbuckes, the ring aprons, the microphones, the title belts & even the cameramen's shirts blurred. So about fuckin' time...

Last week on Vintage Collection they showed RAW #1 and didn't edit out WWF mentions. There were at least 12 WWF mentions kept from commentary.

I couldn't have said it any better myself.

That's pretty awesome. I never thought I'd see the day when 'WWF' could be seen AND heard on WWE programming again.

Personally I always found the blurring kind of humorous, considering how they had to blur things like t-shirts and turnbuckles.

Obviously a good thing, though. I wonder this new agreement came about.

Too bad they can't just go back to the WWF altogether...it just had such a better ring to it.

Yeah, they never announce it as WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT CHAMPION!

Sucks for people who own the DVDs now though.

To little to late. I use to own all those box set dvd collections that had all the blurring. Fucking couldn't stand it. Sold off my entire dvd collection anyway and I'm not rebuying anything.

I always found it ridiculous anyway. The only thing blurring the logo achieved was pissing off people wanting to watch older WWE stuff, it gained nothing for the World Wildlife Fund, except cause a portion of wrestling fans to resent them.

Bummer, it was fun when CHIKARA was the only fed using WWF.

I still fail to see how WWF created brand confusion. If people could not tell the difference between professional wrestling and animal conservation, there is a far worse problem than brand confusion going on.

That's the reason I never bought the Wrestlemania anthology. If they release it without the blurring, I'll buy it now.

I kind of wished they'd pushed for this years ago. I have way too many collections with blurred out logos. It doesn't bother me all that much anymore except for the turnbuckles during a match. There's nothing more distracting while you're watching guys work the corner and you constantly see blurs vanishing behind a wrestler and reappearing.

But in all I guess this is pretty good news. Eliminates the problem for future DVDs.

Great news. I wish they reached this agreement years ago though, as I have many WWE DVDs with the old scretch logo blurred.

Here's the VC episode with all the WWF mentions.

    There's a hell of a lot after 25:00

Hoping for a Wrestlemania boxset re-release on Bluray, considering the DVD set is almost unwatchable when the stratch logo was in use.

Yeah, I mean I never got the over-exagerated anger that this generated from some people - but it is undoubtedly good news and a very sensible thing for all concerned.

The scratch logo is still blurred in that. When Dude Love came out before the Austin/Vince match, the big logo behind him on the entrance way was a big blur. The matches after 25:00 use the pre-scratch old WWF logo. They've always been allowed to show that. It was only the scratch logo that wasn't allowed.

Yes but that's because they were just using footage already blurred from previous releases. The RAW 1 footage doesn't bleep out the commentators saying WWF.
