    Default Steamboat/Savage - Punk/Bryan comparision

So the past 6 months I've watched all the ridiculous wrestling matches with the two big IWC heroes. I thought they were dull and boring and I can't tell one match from the other.

Is it possible that Punk and Bryan being smarks and IWC's have tried to recreate Steamboat/Savage @ WM3?

Is is possible that Bryand and Punk studied that legendary match and came to the conclusion that all you need for a great wrestling match is rapid series of near falls, dozens submission holds and going over the ropes?

Because IMO they are dead wrong. The greatness of Steamboat/Savage has nothing to do with near falls and going over the ropes. It's two wrestler who truly dance, it's perfectly executed bumps, simple moves that look awesome. Simply put: just greatness that Punk and Bryan have never been close to.

Or you could be biased towards one style of wrestling and not a second?

Also most people talk about Savage vs Steamboat talk about the WM3 only. Few seen the rest of the feud.

I'm guilty of that but you get to see the rundown of the angle when you watch WM3 so.....

So, then you are saying a feud you have not seen is better than a feud you have?

    I guess he is.

If you're going for blind hatred , at least compare to a feud/matches you have actually seen.

Where on earth is this comparison coming from? How are Punk and DB connected to the Savage/Steamboat feud?

hey if they didn't try to recreate that match then I don't know what I'm talking about and I know nothing about wrestling. I see the similarities though and I know they're IWC smarks.

I am not entirely sure you have even seen the full WM3 match

If you did you would know that Macho tried to end Steamboat's career by re-injuring his trachea with the ring bell. Where was this in the Punk vs DB move for move recreation? I mean this was a really BIG part of that match.

Yeah, it's not hard to figure out that this is just another thinly veiled Punk/Bryan hate thread.

That's it. Punk and Bryan studied the match and they didn't figure out that part of it. I'm saying you, my man, understand wrestling better than Punk and Bryan.

Punk and Bryan studied the match and thought it was all about near falls and going over the ropes. That's my point. They don't understand wrestling.

So why didn't they figure out they needed more than near falls and submission holds to sell PPVs? Why did the writers have to come in and force Kane and AJ upon the two Jesus Christs of the WWE?

Just stop bro. It's not worth it. You shouldn't vent about two people in a place where they are beloved. I've curtailed by negativity about Bryan, albeit slowly.

Yeah, man. It's not worth trying to use logic or looking at things objectively.

It's not worth judging them by themselves instead of trying to compare them to other greats, using some made up idea that they were trying to copy another match.

Nah. Fuck all that. PUNK AND BRYAN SUCK AND SO DO THEIR MARKS!

The main problem I had was when you said two smark crowds chanting his name, even during a promo from The Rock, on the biggest weekend in wrestling was nothing.

You essentially, if I remember right, said it wouldn't last and it was just a few fans trying to be cool.

He's since gone onto, because of his skills in and out of the ring, to be one of the hottest properties in the game.

That is why I have a problem with you over Daniel Bryan. Your opinion of him in general may not be agreed with by me, but I can at least respect it as an opinion.

But he'll be even better now. Nothing will hold him back.

As far as the comparison to Savage/Steamboat goes I prefer the faster/crisper style of Steamboat/Savage compared to the matches with Punk/Bryan.

As I've said a million times, the main thing I have a problem with is when people let their imaginations run wild to look for reasons to hate Punk and Bryan. The opening post of this thread is a perfect example.

It's okay to just say that you don't like them. Really, it is.

No it isn't. People get badgered when they show any dislike for Daniel Bryan. I've received 5 red reps because of my views on Bryan, yet I've never received a red rep for any other opinion that shared for another wrestler. Die hard Bryan fans can be completely intolerant for anything negative towards him. I've never seen this with any other wrestler -- not Cena, not Rock, not Austin, not Punk, not anyone.

So tell me Punk and Bryan are not IWC smarks. Tell me they never watched Steamboat Savage. Tell me they never heard of Bret Hart's "best there ever was". Tell me they are the two Jesus Christ's of pro wrestling. That they are just blank pages ready to be filled with greatness and greatness.

Neither Punk or a Bryan are a smark. I do not think you know what that word means.
