Question STONE COLD, STONE COLD, STONE....WHAT?

Alright, who do we blame? Stone Cold Steve Austin wasn't there for the monumental 1000th episode of RAW, according to sources he is off shooting "Grown Ups 2" with Adam Sandler and couldn't make it. This was quite possibly the biggest shock of the night and possibly in RAW history, I think we all knew he would be there....but he wasn't.

Who is to blame here? The WWE for not shelling out enough cash? Or Stone Cold, who you would think regardless of cash or other dealings could have shown up? Did the WWE need Stone Cold or did Stone Cold need the WWE? And you have to think there is some bad blood from here on out, at least I would feel that way if my top worker didn't show up to our big company celebration. Your thoughts?

Talk about hyperbole. Punk's heel turn was easily the biggest shock of the night and I could name a million things in Raw history that were more shocking than Austin not showing up.

And why the hell are you looking for someone to blame when you stated the probable reason yourself in the first paragraph?

Chump Stone Cold was quite possibly the only reason RAW is still on the air, him not being at the "1000th" is a tad bigger then the inevitable PUNK heel turn. Filming "Grown Ups 2" seems more sarcastic then saying "I don't want to be there" which has to be the reason because I think with these flying mobiles these days he could have made the treck to big bad Saint Louie. I mean wtf....

No, it was not bigger. The Punk heel turn is going to affect storylines for months to come. Austin would have just shown up, stunned someone, and left. How the fuck is him not doing that a bigger deal?

As for the Grown Ups 2 thing, in the real world, people can't just take off work whenever they want. A conflict came up and they couldn't make it work. That's it. Stop trying to make it more than it is.

People can't just take off whenever they want? It's Stone Cold Steve Austin with a bit part in "Grown Ups 2". Did you see "Grown Ups 1"? He was RAW brother (Hogan coming out in me), it seems like a pretty fucking big deal to me, but then again I have probably been watching the product for a few more years then you so you might not understand...(drops the mic and walks away).....

That's adorable, you think you're dropping a pipe bomb. I've heard far worse, buddy.

Even for bit parts, people can't just take off if they're scheduled to film. Period. Not sure how that's hard to understand.

BTW, I'm not trying to be a dick. I am just a little pissed at forum arrogance on a pretty fucking big topic....

It's really not as big of a topic as you're trying to make it.

I'm disappointed that Austin wasn't on the show myself. But it was because he had a conflict that could not be resolved. It sucks, but such is life and I don't see the point in complaining or trying to place blame on people who don't deserve it.

Yeah you make sense, I am sure Stone Cold couldn't get away from the grueling "Grown Ups 2" schedule in Africa where they are shooting the "big fight scene". Are you kidding me? He could have been on a plane and back to LA in under 3 hours. I think he could have made the treck. This is obviously a bigger deal then scheduling. Are you for real?...

You don't know what his schedule is like, stop acting like you do.

I don't know either, but my best guess would be that Austin would have been at the show had he been able.

The biggest shock in Raw history was Steve Austin not showing up for the 1000th episode. OK then.

Just because you think it's a stupid movie doesn't mean everybody else does. The man has a job. Maybe he didn't want to make a cross-country flight and fly back the next day to make a 1-minute cameo on Raw like Bret did. He wasn't going to be involved in a big angle, so why bother? It's not the worst thing in the world anyway, they can save him and trot him out when they can actually use him to accomplish something, or pop a rating a bit when they need to.

No I don't know his schedule nor am I acting like I do, you're missing the point. This was the 1000th episode of RAW, for God sakes The Rock made it, Stone Cold not being there isn't just a scheduling conflict in my humble opinion, just writing it off like it is makes you look ridiculous. Trust me, we will find out something happened here.

And if he couldn't make it then why not a "satellite" shout out to the crowd? We do live in a pretty decent technologically sound point in time, I think he could have "Tout'd" at the very least....(picks mic up only to drop it again)....

The Rock was involved in a major angle. That's a totally different situation.

Maybe none of that was worth his time.

Maybe he's given us enough over the last 15 years and he doesn't owe us anything else, regardless of whatever anniversary or milestone show it is.

I mean really, if a random Stunner was a make or break deal for you as far as enjoyment of the show went, you're better off just watching tapes from 1998 when he actually did relevant stuff.

Well I am glad that we weren't worth his time Champ. That's like saying the NBA isn't worth Michael Jordan's time.....

So basically, what you're saying is that you think Stone Cold Steve Austin owes you something, which is just about the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

This is pretty much a Rock sellout argument from the mid-2000s, except the roles of Rock and Austin have been reversed.

Well, Michael Jordan owns an NBA team, so that's also a different story. Gotta work on your examples here.

Would you work a full shift, spend 5 hours flying to St. Louis to visit your old job, hang out for a minute, spend another 5 hours flying back to where your new job is, and then work another full shift? Somehow I doubt it.

I'm sure he will make it to the 20th anniversary in 6 months time. I was disappointed he wasn't on last nights show as it would have made it just that little more perfect but he doesn't work for the wwe any more so that can't be his priority. Doing grown ups 2 will probably help im better going forward with contacts he makes and exposure on a movie which no matter how crap will still make a load at the box office no doubt

Yes, I actually do think "Stone Cold" Steve Austin owes me, a big fan of his for many years a shout out during one of the most historic nights in WWE history. Yes, Yes, Yes! A shout out isn't too much to ask for all those hours I spent watching him is it on a historic night while on a television show he starred in for years. It's like having a "Cheers" giant celebration without Ted Danson showing up or sending a message because he has better things to do...

    Okay.

So you spent hours watching Stone Cold.

In return, Stone Cold gave you hours of entertainment.

I'd say that evens out pretty well.

Seriously, this is EXACTLY a Rock sellout argument with the roles reversed. I thought we were done with this stuff.

They cancelled Cheers because Ted Danson had better things to do. Again, your examples need some work dude.

At most Stone Cold would of been involved in the Slater thing... Is that really worth it? Seeing him come out stun a mid-card guy drink a beer and leave? I wanted him to show up and do it, but as soon as the APA and all the other legends showed up I completely forgot about him.

It's word for word the exact same thing. Gee didn't you just love it back then?

Everyone was a bit gutted that we didn't get Stone Cold but the the countless other awesome segments more than overshadowed it, especially the closing angle.
