WWE no longer owns ECW trademark

- An LLC based out of New York named "Mocker" registered to trademark "ECW" for wrestling use in March. WWE apparently let the trademark slip, and the registration was assigned to an examiner earlier this week.

Probably just the moniker, but I'd still think that would pose a problem in releasing old ECW material in the future (although I'm not a legal guy and don't have extensive knowledge of that stuff).

I wonder if Shane Douglas is behind this. I have been curious as to how they obtained the rights to use the word "Extreme" all of a sudden. They previously weren't allowed to do that for the Hardcore Reunion shows. Now he's putting on shows called "Extreme Reunion", and "Extreme Rising".

I highly doubt he is, but I bet he's kicking himself in the ass for not jumping on it.

Maybe somebody will start an Extreme Combat Worldwide fed(Paul Heyman's original idea before Extreme Championship Wrestling in 94).

Mocker is not a person. Mocker LLC is a company that buys and sells trademarks aka patent troll.

Mocker LLC owns the letters ECW.

Vince however owns the trademark design, the name and the rights to use ECW in anything associated with One Night Stand.

So Vince meets a patent troll. He will buy the name back for a small sum and all will be as it was. Or he will sue the fuck out of the company and they will drop the trademark claim.
