Default Why does WWE let some HOFs continue to wrestle?

<spoiler>Hall of famers Sgt Slaughter and Hacksaw Jim Duggan </spoiler>were on Smackown this week competing in a match while seeing HBk, The Rock and Austin among other alive and healthy Superstars are more rare in appearances let alone being in a match. I know theyre more prestigious to the fans. Should the wwe try to get HBK to wrestle again at some point? I know it's unlikely but him relacing his boots at some point feels more likely than Austin and Rock more often despite Rockn being at consecutive Wrestlemanias supposedly.

It all depends. Austin, HBK, JBL, Rock, etc all of these guys are content right now. If they ever wanted to come back and wrestle, you better believe that the door would be wide open! It all depends on what these guys want to do. Sure, WWE can do what they can to get them back, but if they're fine with being retired, they're going to stay retired. Guys like Slaughter, Duggan, Piper, Nash, etc. Guys that have been back to the WWE recently, because they still want to actively compete. When they are given the opportunity, they jump to it!

I really do wish guys like HBK and Austin would come back. Which is sad that we all look to the past, because we dont have any stars that are close to their stature other than Cena, Triple H, the Undertaker. Who may as well be retired...

Well the older HOF have nothing else to do. It's unlikely that they have other projects aside from wrestling like, Rock Austin and HBK and even Trish Stratus. Forgive me for sounding a bit too assumptious. And another good reason is for the WWE not to forget who they are. After all, it has been years(10+ years) since they've retired unlike Austin and HBK.

As has been said, people like Rock, Austin, HBK, Trish, etc have moved on and have careers outside of wrestling. guys like Slaughter and Duggan don't, they still wrestle on the indy's because they didn't save or invest their money wisely in the 80s /early 90s. WWE throws them a bone every once in a while. The WWE Universe gets a small nostalgia fix, and they get a paycheck.

I really wish people would stop thinking/wishing HBK will/might come back for a match. If you pay the slightest bit of attention to his twitter he has zero and I mean zero interest in all things wrestling. He doesn't watch, has no clue on anything going on and has stated more than once he really doesn't care. The guy has moved on and his fans need to too.

I would say Slaughter's movie career was bigger than almost all wrestlers sans Hogan.

Wrestling fans refuse to let wrestlers be done. Every big star needs to have the one more match.

Hell, Michaels gave us one more eight year run after his first retirement, and people still can't be happy with that.

All we have is right now....

WAS, as in past tense. I'm talking about careers today. Slaughter doesn't have a career today. I think he's appeared on one or two comedy shows or something, but nothing regular or major.

Exactly. Which is also why people who DID save their money wisely and arent Vince ass kissers, aren't the ones showing up on your TV (Ultimate Warrior, Savage when he was alive, Bruno, etc)

I can see CM Punk being another smart one as he isn't all flashy and seems to save his money wisely.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to the fans. So many wrestling fans, most of the posters here, etc, still want to see HBK, Austin, Rock, etc in WWE. They [the fans] get excited at the chance to see one of their favs wrestle one more match. I believe this is a big reason why so many wrestlers of today have not reached that next level of success because the fans would still rather see HBK wrestle than Rhodes, Ziggler, Ryder, etc. And the fans buy HBK merchandise; they follow his every move; they call him one of the greatest. And that's all fine, but how can we ever get the next "one of the greatest" if the fans keep embracing the older generation instead of supporting the new generation.

For example, Lesnar came back this year. Good wrestler, sells tickets, etc. BUT, he's only here for a year. That's an entire year of Lesnar taking the main event spot that one of the younger guys could/should have. How are the younger guys suppose to get to the next level if they are never given the opportunity?
