Lets say Punk/Austin happened...who'd win?

I wanna say Punk would win but with Rock coming out on top at Mania 28 over Cena it kinda makes me wonder whether they'd have Austin win, but the fact is Rock can still wrestle so he can and will come back, but Austin hasn't got much left in him for many matches due to his neck thus he wouldn't be able to be able to wrestle again and I'm pretty sure if he did come back it would be for one more match. Thoughts on who'd win IF the match happened?

I can't see Punk using his stroke out of respect to Austin, and as well Austin is no saint. Then again, an Austin win makes no sense. Then again, a Rock win made no sense.

Punk would have to be heel so I'll say Austin. Who knows though with the politicking than can go on.

Let me preface this by saying that I still don't like the fact that Rock won, nor will I ever. But the difference between that and Austin winning is this:

Rock is going to have at least one more big time WrestleMania match, and perhaps even more in the future. He has left that door wide open, especially with his constantly making statements like "I'm never leaving" and "This ride is just beginning."

With those big time matches comes a need to win some of them, because if he loses every time, people are not going to keep paying to see The Rock lose.

If Austin ever wrestles another match, I think it's a given that it's his last. So if the match happened, Austin would, and should, lose.

I think Punk would win and I think Austin would make sure that was the outcome. Austin might have been notorious for backstage politics when he was an active wrestler, but now he doesn't really gain anything with a win, and as far as I can tell really likes Punk and is one of, if not the only person he would come out of retirement for.

I think if it happened, Austin would put Punk over in a big way.

The more I hear about this match the less I want to see it happen, I don't want to see Austin winning, and I certainly don't want to see Punk turn heel just to please Austin's ego.

I would love to see Austin win I can't lie about that, I did want Rock to win at mania 28 but as time went on I found myself wanting Cena to win. If the match was scheduled I think come the night of the match I'd still wanna see Austin win, but I think Punk would be the winner and I wouldn't expect an Austin win.

I never thought austin would wrestle again. I thought his injury was that bad, he couldnt risk it. If he has one more match left in him. He will be at his very best. And he will do what he can to make it a 5 star match.
Punk would probally have too turn heel. I love him as a face. But he is superb at being a heel. And if it's austin's last match it would make sence for punk too win.

This sums it up. Austin is only coming back to put over a star, someone who is worth it, and as Matt stated "making a dent" or immortalizing that person.

Austin has publicly stated that Punk needs to step up his game. If Punk ever reaches that Cena-like stardom level, then Austin will finally do the match. I'd love to see this all happen for the promos alone.
