F4Wonline.com reports that WWE officials want Bruno Sammartino to be the headliner for the 2013 Hall of Fame class from the New York City area. WWE has already contacted Sammartino about being inducted but we do not know his response to them yet.
Sammartino's past with WWE is a troubled one. He hasn't worked with them since the late 1980's and has been very critical of Vince McMahon and the WWE product over the years. Sammartino has turned down several projects from WWE over the years, declined invitations to shows and spoken out against them in the media

So the consensus seems to be, fuck Bruno because he's maintained his integrity and refuses to allow Vince to make a dime off of him? He disagreed with Vince alledgedly pushing his wrestlers to use steroids. He disagreed with Vince backstabbing all of his father's business partners running the different territories. I, for one, hope Bruno refuses to join the HOF until the day he dies and that his family refuses to allow him to be inducted after that. The WWE HOF is meaningless without Bruno, Pedro Morales, Backlund, and Savage.

And this proves you're wrong about Bruno vs Vince Jr. Bruno wanted Zybsko to take the title off Backlund, Vince Sr didn't let it happen. Vince Jr let Shawn Michaels and the Kliq to run the show and decide who got pushed and who didn't. As far as being a self-righteous prick, that description fits Bruno and Vince Jr. The David arguement holds up but very few wrestlers from Bruno's era liked what Vince did in the 80s. Bruno's just stuck to his guns and didn't go for any easy payday like others. And I'm not a fan of Bruno's. IMO, the only reason he was so over in his era was because of his ethnicity and booking. It sure as hell wasn't because of his ability.

Kudos to the Sammartinos, Warriors, and Macho Mans of the world who were good with their money, have/had integrity, don't need an easy/cheap payday, and stick to their guns.

I follow Warrior and Macho Man fan sites pretty heavily, and believe me...for the most part, their fans couldn't give a flying fuck if either or is inducted. I'm a little too young for the Bruno era, but I'm fairly certain it would be the same case.

Well if you're a Warrior fan you're probably not a fan of Vince...or good wrestling (kidding of course) and Savage said yes as long as his family was with him. For whatever reason that didn't happen and it's a shame. Hopefully Bruno gets in before he passes so his fans can cheer him one more time.


Foley would be my headliner for the record, even if Bruno accepts.

It was reported on Monday by the Wrestling Observer that WWE officials reached out to Bruno Sammartino about being inducted into the 2013 Hall of Fame. Bruno issued a statement online Monday night that said he would not be entering the Hall.
In an update, the Observer reports that Triple H actually called Bruno and tried to sell him on the induction and the fact that he would get one more huge pop. Triple H tried to tell Bruno not to worry about Vince McMahon but Bruno wasn't having it.

Not many other details are known but word is that Bruno was not impressed with Triple H's approach.
