Default Christian to appear at TNA's Slammiversary

TNA President Dixie Carter revealed on Twitter that current WWE Intercontinental Champion Christian will be in Arlington, Texas this Sunday for TNA's Slammiversary PPV. The Wrestling Observer reports that when WWE worked out the deal with TNA to have Ric Flair appear at the Hall of Fame and Wrestlemania 28 in April, a deal was also made to allow Christian to be in Arlington on Sunday for the Slammiversary PPV. Christian will reportedly be part of interviews for upcoming TNA DVD releases.

I guess if it was an agreed upon deal, then it's fine.

I have a real hard time believing WWE will let this fly. I remember a few years back they wouldn't even let Flair do an un-televised appearance for a show (I think it may have been an award ceremony, something to do with legends) while he was still under WWE contract and it caused a complete disaster for the promoter. So anyway... i doubt they will let the Intercontentinal champion appear on an impact wrestling PPV.

Kind of different no I mean with what you mentioned it seems like there was nothing in it for the WWE where as with this there was what with Flair being inducted into the Hall of Fame (again) and WM 28 besides I'm sure there is a contract in place for this so not much they (WWE) can do unless they (WWE) want to get sued for breaching the contract.

I just think it's weird timing, with that lawsuit and all.

Did you miss the part where it was agreed upon?

Well it's something that was agreed upon before WM 28 so I wouldn't really call it weird.

Wouldn't be shocked if he dropped the belt his next match after this appearance

    It makes sense really though.

Four Horsemen in the HOF wouldn't be the same without Flair and TNA knew that.

Christian is 1B in the all-time most important signings in TNA history (1A being Angle), and is one of their greatest champions, so they want him for the 10th anniversary show and for DVD footage after. They had the cards that WWE wanted. Well played really.

I just hope he gets to come out during the show

Well, now, if Rhodes wins back the IC Title at NWO, I expect people to blame Christian's appearance at Slammiversary .

Agreed. Would be something. Though if anything it would just be a wave and say a few words kind of thing. I would suspect WWE has a clause in this agreement preventing him from getting involved in anything. Too many variables.

I highly doubt he'll be appearing on the PPV itself. All it says is that he has to be in Arlington at the same time, and mentions the possibility of interviews for the DVD.

This won't do much other than spike PPV sales a tad, for people clinging to the possibility of him showing up on the PPV (which he won't).

I would think he might, but only if they do a quick bit promo in the back where he just stands there randomly, or if they do something with 10 years of champions and have them all come out on the stage.

If they are doing 10 years of champions, then they would have to have R-Truth appear too .

I'm guessing it's going to be a non-ring appearance deal. Not even cutting a promo in the ring. Probably a cameo with AJ as a Christian Coalition reference.

You are 100% correct. There is no way Christian will be on the PPV. The original deal between WWE and TNA was that TNA would allow Flair to be on camera at the HOF ceremony in exchange for WWE letting one of their wrestlers take part in a DVD, and that's it, just a studio creation of a DVD.

TNA President Dixie Carter posted to her Twitter @TNADixie: "On a plane headed to Dallas for the big PPV this weekend. Very excited @Christian4Peeps is joining us for the night. He's one of my favorites.”

Well, from the way TNA is plugging the appearance, it would be one hell of a bait and switch to not have Christian appear on the show in some way. If I was ordering the show now, I'd be pissed. Going above and beyond and allowing Christian to appear on the show might be an act of goodwill to try and stem the tide over the lawsuit, and build towards some sort of settlement, something to get WWE out of the proceedings.

I can't help but imagine Dixie trying her best to convince Christian of showing up with the IC Title.

Dixie isn't smart enough to ask him to do such a thing, and Christian isn't stupid enough to even consider it
