"Dear fans of quality wrestling...
...I've always wanted to say that. Welcome to the first of what I hope are many video diaries hosted by yours truly, your mysterious NEW CEO.
For those that don't know, my name is Adam Copeland. For a while, I was known as Edge. I was a wrestler, and I won a few belts in my day, but that part of me is over. Edge isn't who I am anymore. Now I'm just a boring stiff in an expensive suit who can't stop thinking about wrestling.
Which brings me to why I'm making this video. I, Adam Copeland, have sold out. I have become the man I never wanted to be, but I'm doing it for you, the fans of pure, quality entertainment of the highest level. I want to bring to you the best wrestling promotion imaginable. It won't be the most popular, it won't have tons of flashy lights and big explosions and other distractions, and it won't have boring, washed up guys like me wasting time talking in the ring.
A wrestling ring is used for wrestling, not talking. Feuds and stories and drama are built in matches, where the true story is told. New Era Wrestling won't rely on some shaved ape in a suit to build a half-assed storyline. That is a promise.
Fortunately for you, the only talking you'll have to endure are these videos, should I feel the need to address the fans, which I hope doesn't happen very often. I will only have you, the fans, in mind whenever I make a decision.
I'm also doing this for the people involved in the company. I'm doing it for the guys that would otherwise never get a shot at the limelight they so desperately crave, like I did throughout my entire career. I'm doing it for the guys that deserve that shot at glory, even if just for a moment, but would otherwise never get it. I'm doing it for the veterans who are consistently being mistreated and disrespected, after giving everything they had for years.
Now, since that long-winded rant didn't answer any of the questions you have, let me get straight to business.
In short, New Era Wrestling is back. How is that possible, you ask? Well, just ask our major corporate sponsor YOU On Demand. They'll answer any questions you might have, just don't ask that old CEO Shane McMahon. He'll lie right to your face (sorry about that..just business, folks..).
New Era Wrestling is going back to its roots. As I said before, we're going to be the promotion that everyone talks about. We'll be the promotion that steals the show. We'll be the promotion that I fell in love with 5 years ago, and sacrificed everything I had to help make it what it is today. NEW has always believed in quality over quantity, which is why I've selected a tight roster that is jam packed with men who will bring everything they have week in and week out, leaving everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, in the ring.
The roster will be released in the coming days to build up to our premiere show, which will air in several countries across the globe from just down the street in Raleigh, North Carolina, before we head out on a tour of the eastern United States, with one stop in my hometown of Toronto, Canada.
Once again, I would like to shamelessly plug our sponsor, YOU On Demand, for making this happen. We've reached a television deal in the United States, Canada, the UK, and Japan, where weekly shows
will air on network television, and bi-monthly Pay-Per-Views
will be available for purchase. We have also reached live streaming deals in China and Mexico. The details are still a bit sketchy at this point, but don't worry. Just watch our website for all the updates, and if you miss a show, it will be uploaded directly to the site immediately after it airs.
As you may have alreay guessed, New Era Wrestling has signed Patrick Martin and Joshua Harter, better known as Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, better known as the former Motor City Machine Guns, better known as one half of the greatest stable to ever exist, The Originators. We are also currently in the final stages of negotations with one Paul London, one of the founders of The Originators. While I truly wanted to do this promotion with The Originators fully in tact, Philip Brooks, a.k.a. CM Punk, is a hard guy to reach these days. I've been tweeting him like crazy, but he keeps telling me to kill myself.
The rest of the roster will be left a surprise. As we build towards our premiere show, we will begin releasing the names and bios of all those men and women that will be employed by New Era Wrestling. Some may be obvious, others may shock you. Regardless, just know that I have personally hand-picked this roster to bring you the very best in quality sports entertainment.
I don't really have a way to sign off, so I'm just going to steal something from my dear friend and CEO of our favourite sponsor YOU On Demand, Shane McMahon...
...stay tuned for something NEW."
