eh since my birthday coming up next week thought i get new computer seems it won't happen not alot of things i want i desperatly need a new sterero receiver with speakers meh

anyways thinking about perhaps time to get new game system i know xbox 360 got those 3 red rings thing going but i belive its less expensive then ps3

so despite 3 rings you think 360 better then ps3

i say PS3 is better quality wise but ya cant go wrong w/ 360's price tag and library.

the 360 may have the 3 rings but dont be fooled my 1st ps3 lasted like 6-8 months.

cant really go wrong either way, but the ps3 does have MGS4.

Honestly I'd go with the 360.

It has a better game selection and the price tag isn't too bad, yeah the red rings is a scary thing but that's about the only flaw I can think of for it.

Just go with whatever you feel like you would have more fun with.

I'd say 360 if you don't care about the RRoD, it gets fixed for free anyway. The library and online service is better with the 360 imo. ;D

If the RRoD thing does bug you, go with the PS3 :) It has a decent library.

It really all depends on your taste in games.

The Hypeman
04-15-2009, 10:44 PM
I would suggest getting a PS3, since it's less likely to break. I would say $100 extra is worth not having to send the piece of shit in to get repaired.

Ness
04-15-2009, 11:07 PM
The price difference will be spent either way if you get a 360, so you won't truly be saving money. 360 has the better library, but you're putting yourself @ risk with the faulty hardware. They fix it for free (as well they should), but it should never come to that. Personally I'd go with the PS3 because the few exclusives they got (Atlus software specifically) are better then any 360 exclusives...

SammyPRO

I would go with the PS3 as the better investment. PS3 can be used for blu-rays in addition to the games. If you see yourself getting a blu-ray down the road, might as well pick up the PS3.

Yea, 360 hardware fixes are free, but honestly, I'm the type of person that gets pissed having to sent stuff back and forth to get it right. I don't like hassle.

PS3 has you browse the internet.
PS3 has you play online for free.
PS3 won't give you red ring of death crap unlike X-Box.
PS3 exclusive games are much better ie. Metal Gear Solid 4.
PS3 has Playstation Home.
PS3 has Blu-Ray Disc and Player.
PS3 is updated constantly to stop faults and bugs.

Do you want me to continue?

Just Plain Cunt
04-16-2009, 11:39 AM
Not even close.

Theres no real answer to who has the best exclusives. Its all subjective and about personal taste.

For me I'd rather have LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted, God of War, Metal Gear, MotorStorm, Resistance, Gran Turismo, Ratchet & Clank, and Tekken over Gears, Halo, Fable, Mass Effect, Banjo Kazooie, Left 4 Dead, Ninja Gaiden, and Portal.

Portal hurts the most since its really the only 360 exclusive I've really loved. The 360 definitely has the best online play but I don't play online so I could care less about that.

Anyone who's a diehard online player would be foolish to not get a 360.

Yeah but its a small fee to pay when the 360's online is so far superior. I don't have enough time to play all the single player games I want to thank god I don't have enough free time to dedicate to online play. I'd never leave my room.

Having to pay to play something like Street Fighter online is a sin. SFIV for 360 is for suckers!

Think about it for a sec ... XBL is like what? 50 bucks a year? If you plan to own that system for more than a few years, you're already eclipsing the PS3 cost. Of course if you choose not to play online then it doesn't matter.

Afficial
04-16-2009, 01:25 PM
I own a 360, but I want a PS3.

The 360s hardware is fucking terrible. No system should break down after a year of use. I never got the red ring of death yet, but my disc drive freezes all the time and sometimes scratches my discs. I have to install games to my harddrive now if I don't want my them to freeze up or skip.

The thing that I hate about the PS3 though is that you can't buy them backwards compatible anymore. That was one of the main reasons I wanted it.

SammyPRO
04-16-2009, 01:37 PM
360 was a rush job to just beat out the PS3. What happens when you rush things? You overlook mistakes and in this case hardware defects. Now that PS3 has suffered a damaging blow, maybe XBox can take their time and do it right next gen.

If you don't give a shit about blue ray, get a 360. It has a better library, exclusives and more online content. The red rings argument is a moot point. You run a risk with any piece of technology. Personally, I've had my 360 Elite for two years, play it all the time and have never had a single issue- no rings, no slowdown, no problems with connectivity- nothing. Plus, it's cheaper.

If one hardware has like a 80 percent chance of breaking down and the other has say a 30 percent chance, its not really a moot point is it. If your someone that doesnt like hassle like me, its a very big point that is completely objective, unlike library and exclusives debates.

I was considering the 360 until reports of defects kept surfacing so I was turned off by it. It seems everytime they try to fix one problem another one comes up ... like the e74 errors. The only differences with the elite and the regular 360(actually called the pro.) is that elite is black and has a bigger hard-drive which is 150 gb while the pro I think now they have the 60 gb I think?

Misinformed much? Do not listen to this guy because he clearly has no idea what he is talking about.

The other difference between Gold and Silver is that you cannot play online with Silver. After that Silver can do everything that Gold can do minus the special little deals they offer to Gold members. Oh and Silver members also have to wait a week before they can download new demos other then those Silver does everything Gold does.

The only thing Gold is good for is playing online other wise stick with Silver.

Point cards give you currency to buy on Arcade or downloadable content. YOU DO NOT NEED GOLD FOR THIS ONLY THE FREE SILVER ACCOUNT.

Considering the supposed PS3 savior is a FPS I found that statement insulting and misinformed. While there is an abundance of shitty FPS mostly multi platform might I add there is also a plethora of other genres on the 360 as well. If you replaced the word 360 with Xbox then I would agree but the 360 has evolved and changed what it's predecessor was all about and now offers more then FPS.

I don't care if they're in debt or not, but how smart is it to release defective units knowingly to the consumers and then have to waste resources in the end to cover it? The 360 was gonna come out cheaper anyway, they could've done it right, released around the same time as Sony ... and still would've crushed Sony because of pricing. I have a PS3 and I am very happy with it.

BTW both consoles arent that reliable. I know plenty of people who have either and have had to return their consoles.

The closer these things are becoming to PC's the more unreliable they are becoming.

Anyway in terms of advice on what console to pick heres mine:

1. Forget about reliability issue... it can happen to both consoles

2. If you like FPS's alot get a 360... because thats where youll get the best experiance for those kind of games

3. If you wanna watch high def movies get a PS3

4. If you dont want to pay for an online service... get a PS3

5. If you wanna chip your console and download games etc... get an Xbox 360 (though I do not condone this behaviour :nono: )

6. If you want unique games then go for a PS3 (LBP and Heavy Rain just a couple of the kind of games that you wont ever see on the Xbo 360)

7. Look at the exclusives of each console and go for what you prefer.

Theres more but you cant really go wrong with either choice.
